“Leyton Orient’s head coach, Richie Wellens, has been charged with misconduct following their EFL League One game against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, January 20, 2024. It is alleged that he acted improperly during the 81st minute, which led to his dismissal and also by remaining in an area where he could directly view the rest of the game after being sent off. Richie Wellens has until Friday, January 26 2024, to provide a response.”

That doesn't sound like a new rule. I remember Laurie Sanchez doing his nut while watching the game on a monitor in a corridor when Roy Essandoh scored that FA Cup goal for Wycombe 25 years ago. Wellens can watch the game, just not have a direct eyeline to the pitch. Seems petty but this seems to be what he's charged with.

As with much of the unnecessary fiddling the suits have implemented this season... who cares? Goes back to some comments RW made around pre-season time about how those in charge of the game just don't get it.

At the top of the gangway, in the Gallery seats area, with one of the backroom staff running messages between him and Terry & Harrold at pitchside. We could see it all as we were about 10 seats away.

He's a bit too arrogant with officials and with his length of time in football, he should know better. The EFL don't like that attitude from managers and if he keeps it up, IMO they will throw the book at him sometime, such as a double-digit number pitch side match ban.

Those in charge just don’t get you should be able to stop an opposition player taking a quick throw? Ok.

Can't believe the STFU Orient group stitched him up like that.

I believe Dulcet Dave mention the fact on the audio stream that RW was sitting in the stand behind the dugout.

I think RW needs to pull himself together and get a grip. He cannot run with the hare and hunt with the hounds. He cannot instil discipline when he is a maverick.
Things could go our way for a play off chance and it will matter if we get to the vinegar strokes of a chance this season.

Whilst it was not to my eyes a serious touch it was still unnecessary and not for him to act.

Don’t think Nigel will be best pleased considering Richie previously said he promised him he wouldn’t get sent off again

Maybe but Bolton were blatantly cheating and the West side linesman wasn't doing his job properly .

Correction - The West Side linesman did nothing all game!

Apart from give lots of decisions to Bolton.
Richie should know better by now but the officials didn’t stop either side nicking space at throw ins.

They should be sorting the appalling standard of refereeing with that other bunch of morons at PGMOL first, that's where all this stems from

Didn’t anyone notice Galbraith constantly doing exactly the same? Whether the officials were right or wrong, they were consistent. RW was wrong, it’s in the laws, the red was correct.
