I thought the atmosphere in general on Saturday was excellent, even fans around me in the JE were singing and kicking every ball, long May it continue.

The drummer in the North stand needs to give it a rest when no ones singing though. It gets mildly annoying at times

I can well understand that. Would get on my nerves. I'm glad I sit in the west.

You should be in the South Stand....the drummer starts, we sing. Still, if you like sitting silent then completely your choice.

Mmm.. food for thought. Maybe I should think it over about the choice I made.

I think both drummers (north and south) are excellent and the atmosphere and singing in the north on Saturday was the best it's been for ages. The yoof do a great job away too, that away end at Portsmouth was something else!

I love the singing - especially when there's a good away crowd. My problem is that I sit in the West and I can't make out the words of the various songs and don't want to look like a numpty by asking a neighbour. Is there anywhere the words to the favourite regular songs are available?

Each to their own but I find it intimidating when people sing at football.
At what point will people show a bit of consideration for those who want to actually watch football rather than bellowing out of tune for an hour and a half?
Going to football should be something everyone can enjoy, but the selfish singers make it all about them.
Limiting the singing to these occasions - a goal, a bad referee, or promotion - would really help.
Exceptionally selfish of anyone to just sing all game - in twenty five years of going to orient (and nearly that many matches!) I can honestly say I’ve never felt the need to sing

Call me crazy but I actually find the 'singing' a bit of an embarrassment. Really would like to watch a game of football without choir practice in the background from a bunch of green street wannabees more interested in getting a rise out of opposition fans than whats happening on the pitch. "Orient!...orient!...orient!...orient!" is my favourite and all thats required, imho. We need to put a stop to all these silly copy and paste songs about super richie wellens etc or we'll end up losing our identity.

Whenever I hear someone loudly singing at football, I think “racist”
Really, the only reason for angry white men to be singing at the football is to reinforce norms.
Even if the singing seems innocuous, the intent is territorial; tribal even!
Nasty pieces of work, the lot of them.

Going to get a lot of flak for this, I suspect. Only on this board would expressing an opinion about how to make football more inclusive be frowned upon. Let’s be honest though, obviously I’m not saying that *everyone* who sings at football is racist. Definitely not the case, and I’m happy to clarify that.
For avoidance of doubt - I’m saying that it’s MOST people who sing who are racist, and that everyone else is just ENABLING the racism.
Intelligent boarders will, I hope, see the difference.
Not gonna get into a slagging match about it. Clearly there are some people who just assume they have the right to shout tunelessly as if they own the place. Having been to, as I say, nearly thirty orient games, I can honestly say I’d go to more if these racists kept a lid on it.

Huh?
Everyone who says “you’re wrong” should have to at least say why.
Regardless of the fact that I’m correct, it’s just manners.
Of course you’re entitled to your opinion.
Not entitled to sing that nonsense at football though!

The drummers and songs at Oeient are very small time and lack in originality.

Having been watching the O's since the mid sixties and seen a sh*t load more games than nearly 30 I think you are talking nonsense.
So nearly anyone who sings or promotes it is a racist, yeah right.
Is that just the common or garden we are going up type chant or only those with a couple of verses?
