A great week for the O's & a joyous January

I wanted to pay tribute to Richie and the players in a separate thread.
An exceptional last 7 days - trouncing the leaders away & then defeating another top L1 side & without conceding a goal.
A particular well done to the defence & our strikers. If we'd had Dan from the off then I honestly believe we would be bothering the play offs. When his signing was announced I was particularly pleased having been so impressed by him in the Crewe game last April.
As things stand, I believe we're too far away from the top 6 but we look set to have a damn good 1st season back in L1 if we avoid complacency.
What do people think have been the main reasons for the upturn?

Yes completely agree with that when I saw him at home to Crewe I thought he was their only threat, and looked a very good player.

In my opinion Dan Agyei has made all the difference . Since his return we're now playing with so much more confidence . I'm one very happy Orient fan tonight . Doesn't it make the weekend feel sweet when we win

Dan Agyei coming back has finally given us the striker we needed who can hold the ball up and finish clinically when a chance comes his way. At the same time it's brought the best out of Forde too as the pressure isn't on him to do that main man role.

Also a mention for Sanders too who is now able to show what he can do after being held back by injuries for so long.

Our first choice XI is definitely top six but we haven’t got the squad depth to cope with the injuries we had in the first part of the season.

At the moment the squad depth is the club’s achilles heel .

Defence was criminal at start of the season but we seem to have managed to become a bit of an unbreakable unit at the back again.

Doesn’t look good for the likes of Turns & Hunt who haven’t been in the side recently.

I also think Sol Brynn deserves a lot of credit. He has performed very well for such a young keeper and has proven to be a more than adequate replacement for Vigs. We just need to pray that he doesn’t pick up an injury because we currently don’t really have any viable backup.

Having Beccles back has made the difference,Happe is now playing better and the back four and keeper are growing in confidence, admittedly at the start of the season he didn’t start well for what ever the reason? Now he’s playing well and bringing that bit of experience that Wellens was on about

Having seen the over the top reaction by some fans to a blip, it’s good to see quite how well we’ve regrouped.
In terms of progress, we’ve come up to a new league, struggled a bit, then taken some sensible measures to address the problems, and it seems to be paying off.

Regardless of where we finish this season, a strong foundation will have been laid.
Even the most optimistic fan would probably agree that it’s probably better this season to just consolidate - it’s too early to go up, as then we really would be out of our depth.
Verily, I do think that a season or two as a good league one team is something we all would have been delighted about five years ago

Too many have been too close for comfort i.e. the Charles miss yesterday and the 3 times Pompey hit the woodwork!

Watching the highlights was thinking exactly that, both Portsmouth and Bolton missed some sitters. I guess that's the rub of the green evening out over course of the season along with the two OGs at Cheltenham that really changed the course of the festive period into New Year

Very much enjoying the upturn in form though mindful we're a bit of a one-man team in the striker department, it's a big drop in quality from Agyei to anyone else we have at the club at present

If the playoffs start looking realistic, Nigel Travis will start feeling very unwell.

But we’re 11 points shy with a GD that makes it more like 12, and a very busy schedule in February. He can rest easy for now.
