OK, let’s do this now that the bans are out of the way. I’ll be periodically giving updates and tips and answering questions for anyone who wants to join in .

You will need:
Something to draw on (I’ll be working at A4 size to make it accessible to most people, so even photocopier paper is fine)
Pencils (ideally a range of softnesses, but just HB is fine. I’ll be using 2H, HB and 2B
Eraser/sharpener (ideally a kneadable eraser, but bog standard is fine if that’s all you have)
Kitchen roll (all will become clear)

Optional:
If you’d like to draw digitally and have an iPad, download Procreate
Ruler
Blending stump (rolled up paper for blending)
The means to print out a reference image

Hopefully your ban will be upgraded to a much deserved permanent one in due time.

I have used an old printer test page to draw on the back of with a pencil I found in the office.

I am pleased with the results but wish I had a better rubber.

Neck not very slender, more like a Rottweiler’s.
I thought it was Charles Bronson at first in
‘Once Upon A Time In The West until I saw the likeness.
Actually , is quite good , well done.
I painted something before Christmas but have not had time to learn how to load it on here.

Think you win…done in pen and a work notebook as I wait for some testing to run. Looks a bit like a hunchback.

I think you've captured his face well, particularly the nose. Like me, you've gone with a beefy neck.

Here's my attempt.
- Gave myself 20 mins to do it before work
- After a couple of aborted starts, I traced the silhouette and facial feature positions off my computer screen. I think that's the only way I could get the proportions right.
- Have only ever done a few life drawing classes, which I really enjoyed because you could use basic geometric visualisation and not worry too much about detail. Very soothing. Faces, on the other hand...I have no idea how you draw the intricacies of a nose or ear, for example.

Do you think I got her hair right? It's changed a lot since the Teenage Dream days of this pic.

You even have the haunted look in her eyes that hints at the sadness that still remains from her time spent with ol’ Russ

This is interesting:

“Have only ever done a few life drawing classes, which I really enjoyed because you could use basic geometric visualisation and not worry too much about detail. Very soothing. Faces, on the other hand...I have no idea how you draw the intricacies of a nose or ear, for example.”

because it’s actually how to approach faces too; the trick is to think of them as shapes and not worry about detail until later. I’m going to actually do this today. Shall I use this pic of Theo or is it OK if I pick one that lends itself more to drawings (because a good reference helps a lot)
Actually I might do both

Would be interested to see your iterations of drawing facial features. I reckon you have to do the Theo pic too.

It really is terrible when boarders attempt to continue feuds on unrelated threads, trying to take over the board with their need for conflict, isn’t it. And trying to get people banned! Awful. I hope Rev doesn’t see this post, as he’ll have something to say about this!
