He is reported to be backin training after a heart operation in August. He was a favourite of RW when he played for Swindon and was on the radar before his operation.

Think its well known we were going to bring him in before his health issues. Not sure personally.

Be a ridiculous gamble now surely?

After Tom Lockyer"s heart problems, l think this is a complete non-starter.

This . Anyway I hope we have already identified the two players we want . We need them to be fit and ready to go .

Harsh but probably fair. Must be a very uncertain and worrying time for him, having gone through his op and recovery and then literally at that moment seeing a colleague who had seemingly come out the other side of a very similar scenario have a heart attack just a few months after his return to first team football.

In Tom Lockyer's case that's now twice he's collapsed on a football pitch in the space of seven months . If I was in his shoes I'd hang up my boots . It's not worth the risk.

Must be an incredibly tough decision to make, giving up something that's been your whole life for 20 years so easy to say from afar. But in Lockyer's case he's got a partner, is still young and potentially plenty more in the game he could do in an off field capacity, so as you say, doesn't seem worth trying your luck a third time. Don't know about McKirdy's situation other than he's had the initial op.

And Lockyer got treated by Eriksen's surgeon. At the time the surgeon said Lockyer's was a lesser case. I think his risks must have escalated significantly since then.

McKirdy's problem was directly heart related in that a coronary artery was "kinked" and needed a bit of surgery to open it up fully to supply his heart muscles. I think it is well worth the risk but l don't know if the insurance assessors would go for it.
I saw two full games with McKirdy playing and he is the real deal. Maybe the only option we can afford.

Absolutely, we need players that are league1 capable and have played regular first team football and are ready from day 1.

Well I don't think he will have any choice. Doctors orders. I will be very surprised if he plays again.

Nobody is saying McKirdy isn’t a good player but I would be worried about his health risks if we signed him

Wouldn’t mind betting that he would play more games than Thompson

I wonder if the insurance premiums go through the roof for such high risk players

Do we actually know, the club is interested in signing McKirdy?
It would be very risky IMO
