Now's not the time.
Really hope this is a desperate cry for help and someone gets to him. F**k.

Politely suggest people refrain from posting unless they know what the context of the OP is.

Drove round for a hour but it was a long shot went to local pubs and around our big country park but having read his post on X I really fear for his safety. He is obviously in a very disturbed state of mind.

Danny Macklin: "I have been found safely by Cornwall Police in Looe just prior to going into what I can assure you was cold sea water! Thank you for all the well wishes - I will seek the help I need and sorry for the terrible pain I have caused so many and then seek to rebuild my career / life"
All the best Danny.

Amazing he has been found, very fortunate indeed , I feel so sorry for his family especially children. Maybe a moment of reflection needed and long term possibly a change of career from this high pressurised football environment where when things go wrong you are relegated to well below the programme sellers and janitors (not that these two jobs are not vital).
The modern day club is all about marketing and income and the demand can be enormous on those tasked to generate revenue and promote the club. We all make mistakes in life and there are two sides to every story. How the football authorities deal with this pending charge now against him will be difficult . Maybe they just need to deal with it swiftly and give a ‘slap on the wrist ‘ rather than drag it out for months. I hope Danny is not looked at like a ‘hot potato’ now and ostracised. He must have contacts in the profession. I think he being in a deputy position perhaps where he would be in a lesser role maybe would suit better, less pressure head on. I wish him and his family the best future and a wonderful Christmas and New Year from us all.

Giving someone a “slap on the wrist” instead of an appropriate sanction because of an apparent mental health crisis before sanctions are applied would do nothing more than incentivise faked mental health crises, and increase the already prevalent suspicion (sometimes not without foundation) that many men already weaponise their mental health to avoid consequences for their actions.
The treatment and management after a mental health crisis should be entirely separate from due process around someone’s conduct.

I am not medically qualified but know what you mean. I was not aware men have done this before but have noticed that so many turn up at court on crutches, in wheelchairs and even a case recently turned up by stretcher. We need to not tar everyone with the same brush and of course consider the victims wishes in these
cases. We must be grateful that Danny was found before walking into the cold sea by his own admissions. The thought of that is atrocious.

I'm glad he's been found and hope he gets the support he needs. Maybe some time away from front line footballing duties might be best for him. It's very easy to invest your whole identity in the job you do and sometimes a break from it can make you realise it isn't actually the most important thing.

Perhaps just perhaps people will think twice about how they post things on here as there are some very vulnerable people out there. Nothing wrong with disagreeing but it’s how you do it.
