Alex Mitchell
Did alright for Lincoln last night.
Would you have him in the Orient squad ahead of Happe, Turns or Beckles?

Re: Alex Mitchell
Didn't realise it was him until midway through second half and he was up for a corner but getting bossed around by Cooper.
No thanks.

He was lucky he was up against Pigott and Drinan so hardly any goal threat. The Reverend wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 8:40 pm Did alright for Lincoln last night.

Re: Alex Mitchell
I thought he was decent for us. He was what I would regard as a classic ‘stopper’. Not great on the ball but defensively very good.
I would suggest our current defenders are better and more comfortable on the ball. Cooper way better. Beckles and Turns way better.
Did a job for us but I think his replacements are better.

Re: Alex Mitchell
Fee and personal terms agreed apparently so Mitchell will be signing for Charlton Athletic it seems.

Re: Alex Mitchell
Solid signing for them but then so is Simpson for us. CB the only area we've actually got sorted early.redintheface wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2024 4:50 pm Fee and personal terms agreed apparently so Mitchell will be signing for Charlton Athletic it seems.

Re: Alex Mitchell
Definitely a decent player, but he has never played in the Championship for Millwall and I wouldn`t swap him for any of our defenders. Cooper, Beckles, Happe and Simpson all had better pass success percentage than him last season, but Mitchell won more aerial duels won per game than everyone, apart from but Happe.

Re: Alex Mitchell
Exactly . I think all four of our CB’s are better than him . I look at our CB position and we’re extremely strong. If the rest of our squad was as strong we’d be promotion contendersHoover Attack wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 7:02 am He’s behind all 4 of our centre halves. But good luck to him.

Re: Alex Mitchell
I agree that the O’s are strong in the CB position with the players we have and fortunately do not need an addition in that area. Personally though I would say that Mitchell might well be an upgrade on at least two - if not three- of our existing quartet.
Hoping that Ling & Co can fortify the areas we do need strengthened in the next couple of weeks.

He’s another who just can’t play out from the back.

Re: Alex Mitchell
I think that Richie prefers CBs who are also ‘footballers’ ie comfortable on the ball and able to play a bit.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 7:33 amExactly . Mitchell is a decent ‘stopper’ but is a bit limited on the ‘playing ‘ side.
Although I quite like Cooper but he’s also a bit limited with the ball at his feet.

Beckles and Cooper in my view. Not seen enough of Simpson to form an opinion.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 11:29 amWow. Re: Alex Mitchell
Beckles is a decent centre back apart from lacking concentration when he gives the ball away needlessly. When he is on his game, Happe is my favourite centre back.redintheface wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 11:40 amBeckles and Cooper in my view. Agreed on Cooper but he has shown a vast improvement in that aspect of his game.Cheshunto wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 11:30 amI think that Richie prefers CBs who are also ‘footballers’ ie comfortable on the ball and able to play a bit.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 7:33 amExactly . Presumably they looked at Mitchell whilst on loan and decided he couldn’t become what they wanted, but believe Cooper can.

Re: Alex Mitchell
Big difference, Mitchell would have cost a lot of money whereas Cooper was I would guess cost just a smallish fee to Swansea. As I recall, ( I could well be wrong ) Mitchell was brought in on loan from Millwall when KJ was manager and was recalled from his loan not long after KJ leftHoover Attack wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 12:11 pmAgreed on Cooper but he has shown a vast improvement in that aspect of his game.Cheshunto wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 11:30 amI think that Richie prefers CBs who are also ‘footballers’ ie comfortable on the ball and able to play a bit.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 7:33 am
