Rolling Stones Hackney Diamonds

I listened to this today, have heard "Angry" before but not the whole album. I enjoyed it, but at 74 should I enjoy something that is really no different to what I was listening to 50/60 years ago (and have continued listening to)? And should Mick and Keith, and Ronnie, still be making new music (Charlie was on some tracks as were Bill Wyman Paul McCartney, Elton John and Lady Ga Ga).

Researching the track Rolling Stone Blues took me to a Cindy Lauper album Memphis Blues which I wasn't aware existed

Despite my age I still enjoy listening to new stuff, I don't always like it.

Am I a silly old sod who should know better or are there others like me out there?

No one should ever stop listening to whatever music gets them moving. That would be sad.

Lose curiosity and enjoyment at any age and you may as well be dead.

Haven’t listened to this album but last year Dylan put out one of my favourite songs he’s ever written so I think there’s hope for us all at whatever age.

It’s a decent album and still miles better than what passes as music these days.

Can you give an example of what you think it is that “passes for music these days”?

Remember, for your statement to be true, the example should be of the *best* thing that passes for music these days, not something that is crap.

I must be one of the few people who never ‘got’ the Rolling Stones. Never got a buzz at all hearing their music.

If you enjoy listening to it then it's done its job. Nothing else matters. Personally, I think it's a pretty decent album and better than anyone should expect. I think the last track (Rolling Stone Blues) with only Keith, Mick and Ronnie is superb and, if it does indeed turn out to be the last track on the last Stones album, is a brilliant way to go out.

A Muddy Waters song, where it all began, so yes, it would be very apt if that is their very last track. I doubt that is an accidental coincidence

Totally agree, about what passes as music nowadays.Bands will never be able to sell out the biggest stadiums in the world for the 60 years that the Stones have, they are the true meaning of legends.

Disagree with you about todays music, there is a fantastic choice out there. I agree that they are legends, but Oasis and Ed Sheeran have had some enormous concerts in more recent times

Sorry…Not been here for a while. The last song on the album. 20 min history of American culture/music and history. Hypnotic and extraordinary. ‘Murder Most Foul’
