Didn't realise The Salisbury was owned by the same people. Used to be one of my favourite haunts. The Albion was a great boozer too, before the Virgin Queen refit - it's true they've kept the structural and decorative integrity of the place without gutting it but it was a proper football pub and now it isn't, which is a real shame.

And it's reasonable to expect a similar outcome here

An asset to the Leyton Pub Scene. Is it not mostly used by Away Fans on Match Days?

It was never a pub in a million years, though I've heard the new owners are putting a Stannah Stair Lift down to the bogs.

Weirdly, when I lived near brick lane a few years back, the Albion was the closest pub I could find that showed football! Watched us lose to Hartlepool around 2014 in there at about midday as the only punter in the whole place

Think a few of us went there to follow our 2015 relegation via Soccer Saturday. Such an oddity that it was all West Brom but always seemed welcoming to fans of any club.

Good news. Here’s hoping the price structure is reasonable, as the Tech was miles more expensive than its neighbours.

The Technical got expensive at the end. I went in just before it closed and was charged just over a fiver for a pint of dirty dish water in a plastic glass and had to sit on ripped chairs with sticky tables.

Just over a fiver sounds a bargain

The long walk down a winding staircase to the bog put me off the place, terrible wait at bar too. I dodge places that have security on the door as a rule. Nothing would get me in there again.

What’s the problem with having security?

Were you packing?

If they need security, there are undesirable people going in there, plenty of other places around there to choose from. Top drawer place is our own Supporters Bar J. E. Stand of course if you can get in .

The South Stand bar has security stood outside each match. What are you on about?

Security at a bar in a football ground is probably some sort of requirement. He has a good point about security guards outside pubs generally - they’re a sign that the clientele are likely to be lairy c***s.
Though if the security is only there for when there’s football fans, that’s fine

Have people never had a drink in a town centre on a weekend?

Yes. And places with security are pure poo poo, and a decent indication that I won’t have a good time there.
In my twenties? Maybe. Now? Nah, I’d probably walk past and look for somewhere else
