Skimpflation = Corporate Theft
I was reading about the increasing practice of food and other manufactures to reduce the size of their product and charge more for it.
Of course the shamless move toward reducing the vital energy giving Mars Bar has been ongoing for some years now but the stinkin filthy greedy capitalists have expanded their activities to defraud Joanne Public and add to sky rocketing inflation.
The two I noted this week were Lurpack - 500g to 400g pack and Coffee Mate - 500g to 325g pack.
Any one else noticed this grand deception on other goods or a downgrading of ingredients?

Re: Skimpflation = Corporate Theft
Changing packaging sizes is a real cheat designed to confound the consumer. Thats why there needs to be clearer pricing based on volume or weight.
P.S. I know Scotland is a bit backwards but does Coffee Mate still exist?

I'm not based in Scotland, as I believe you are and I don't shop in large retail outlets. No Coffee Mate in my farm shop....

Even worse is the growing trend for Brewers to reduce the alcoholic content of beers but still charge the same, or more. It reduces their tax burden - based on alcohol content per beer - I think and allows them to make more profit out of each and every pint they sell. Bastards!!!

Drinkers should boycott breweries who do this, it would not take long for them to change back

If you drink filth like Fosters (the biggest culprits in this lark) then frankly you deserve it.Story of O wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 3:15 pm Drinkers should boycott breweries who do this, it would not take long for them to change back

Hmmm - it’s only beer that’s enabled me to watch the O’s over the last decades. No beer is not a worker methinks.WickfordO wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 3:12 pmSimle answer to that is don't drink beerBoniO wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 2:57 pm Even worse is the growing trend for Brewers to reduce the alcoholic content of beers but still charge the same, or more. Surely being educated not to need coffee mates is the answer to saving money.

I opened a pack of chocolate fingers the other day and it was half empty. I wouldn't mind so much if they made the packaging smaller when reducing the quantity of the product, but to keep it the same size so it looks like you're getting as much as previously is a proper pisstake.

The size of Wagon Wheels are a disgrace compared to when I was a lad. They should be renamed to very small scooter indeed wheels.

They do that with the salmon in Morrisons. It looks like the strips go the full length of the package but the bottom third is covered over with a non transparent label and on opening you discover the horrible truth that your salmon was a midget.Adz wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2023 12:43 am I opened a pack of chocolate fingers the other day and it was half empty.
