Teams clearly know they're not going to beat Beckles and Happe in the air so looking to play around us down the flanks. Where they will beat us.

Seems like he would rather do that than in this case just taking the safe and easy option to put the ball out for a throw in.
He also missed an absolute sitter at the other end hitting the cross bar when in the six yard box this was following a corner, see from around 0:50 on the above match highlights video.

Difficult to make a great assessment from brief highlights, but what struck me was how disjointed the midfield appeared. When you're out of possession you either press high as a unit aiming to win the ball in the final third, or, allow the opposition possession whilst remaining compact and then force a mistake by defending in units - we did neither. And then Jordam Graham (24) decided just to press on his own, leaving massive holes. Also, our midfield were too flat, hence how easy it was for Plymouth to play through for the 2nd offside goal.
Tactically RW will probably be furious with the first half display, but fortunately he is a good coach, and will easily recognise the issues.
Could all be down to new faces not quite up to how RW wants his team to play. I understand we were much better 2nd half, so we can build from that for Saturday.

Think we need to get back to our usual shape, seems like gaping holes in behind the LB / RB been a theme for these first two games.

You're right, press does look all wrong. And that's a combination of new players not knowing the system and new players not being fit enough yet. But despite that, they're still showing a desire to press and put the graft in, which is the main thing right now. On Saturday we didn't press the CBs, we let them have all the time in the world and just tried to stop them playing out to the full backs and their 4.

I'm worried about Howes, from what we saw on these hi-lites.
Might have been totally different if either of the shots that hit the woodwork had gone in.

Blimey we look awful in these highlights . So they scored 4 easy goals , 2 offside .

RW quoted it for the second goal; we "compacted" too much leaving the space out wide. Happened Saturday too. We could do that and get away with it easily last season - not this season against better sides.
Is worth remembering that Plymouth is no easy place to go. They probably have an equal home record to that of Man City in the past year.

Not bothered about the Plymouth result as such, FA Cup I hope we have a run in but the others aren't worth investing energy in. Just need to get that defensive issue sorted so other teams can't exploit it easily.

Plymouth looked very lively in that short clip, but Beckles needs to cut out those silly mistakes.
The League will always be our main priority as much as Nigel wants a cup run of some sort.
