I get fed up with the relentless we need a no. 9 splurge on this message board, and why I am encouraging it with this I don't know:

The reality is we'll be getting a young loanee, not Luke Armstrong, but I'm sure the usual suspects will take the bait.

Sorry but yes I am one of those who has been championing the signing of Luke Armstrong all pre-season, hoping, wishing he would become an Orient player.
He is exactly what we need, but he will cost money, so I suppose that’s Orient out of the running
I know it won’t happen as RW has already said we will be dipping into the loan market for a No.9 in a few days, but if only it was a bluff and it is Luke Armstrong
Anyone posting after sending this to say if won’t happen, I know, but let me dream for a few mins, and have my moment

Decent looking striker loan signing by Colchester Utd - so there are still a few potential gems out there!

Your more than welcome to have your day Stan and just for the record would like him here my self but as you said, no chance

So many on here would love him brought to Orient, but he's a league2 striker, playing for one of the lesser clubs in that league. What makes you sure he would be prolific in league 1?

For the very reason you stated. If you can score goals in a lesser team you can do it in a better team that has creativity which imo we have. Plus his movement and work rate is excellent. Just my opinion

We already have the big, workman like central striker in Piggot with Drinnan as his cover. We aren't getting another one.

What we do need is more wide options - we have 3 in Theo, Agyei and Graham so need 1 more, and with Agyei now out for some time could do with a 2nd.

I watched Luke Armstrong a few times last season, and every time he was the best player on the pitch, big strong unit, holds the ball up, pacey, good in the air, and is a finisher.
He is what we need to play up to on his own or with Piggott.
I’m my opinion Guaranteed 15+ goals in our team
Armstrong & Piggott, would be such a good pairing up top.

I would assume, teams like Derby, Charlton, Pompey, Bolton, Wigan, Reading, Blackpool are in the running.

Agree, we need 2 forwards, a No.9 with pace to get behind defences & we need a wide player, as we only have Theo, Graham and Pegrum, and Agyei is out until Jan, and prob won’t be match fit until Feb.

IMO he wouldn’t be pants!
You could say that about any player we sign, but I think the point you are trying to make here is, correct me if I’m wrong, is if we gambled and actually paid a fee, which is what we don’t do, and he tuned out to be pants, then what do we do, after blowing the budget, is that you’re point?
If it is, its the chance you take, if it doesn’t work, you move the player on and go again.
But he is a goalscorer and would score goals and improve our team, and in doing so his value will double, tripple, and we would have a top player on our hands.

We all know we won’t pay a fee, so it’s all hypothetical.

Yes Stan , that was the point I meant . Anyway personally I'd still prefer Bonne or Scarlett from Spurs .

Scarlett from Spurs would be a fantastic signing as he can play across the front 3 positions.
I think it will be Kwadwo Baah from Watford.
My Watford mate, said he is very pacey, bit raw, but could be an exciting signing.

I've only seen him play against us but always been impressed with him and he does seem to fit our model, so yes. But it ain't happening.

It certainly restricts you when you can only rely on freebees

Why would anyone at our level pay a transfer fee when that same player would be available the following season for free?

I still can't get around us paying £300k for Moncur - that's another decent player for 2 seasons we could have had in our squad.
