Orient ticket price for away fans

Post by BiggsyMalone »

Just seen on twitter, the club are charging away fans £29 a ticket in advance and £33 on matchday.

Bolton are at £28.

Premier League teams can’t charge more than £30 for an away ticket.

Community club of the ordinary people owned by several multi millionaires at it again.

How does that compare to other League 1 peers, out of curiosity?

Biggsy, I'm with you on this one but not just in relation to our club. Bolton are taking the piss at £28 too and I reckon you'd find its similar pricing at other L1 grounds.

What happened to the Twenty's Plenty campaign? Been affected by above inflation rises too?

Us charging £33 for a ticket is absolute robbery.

And we all know what the answer is.

I've stopped going to some MusicGigs cos some of the prices are taking the p*ss.

Premier League clubs all get over £100 million pounds a season in TV revenue - Leyton Orient got slightly less than this

Who owns the club is irrelevant, clubs have to earn money before they can spend it

Its either charge fans more or its pay staff less, and get less good players as a result

Leeds & Sheffield Wednesday in Championship at charging away fans £47 a game.

If fans are willing to pay it, then clubs will continue to charge

If they want the fans to stump up the money to keep the club sustainable then they can give the fans a seat on the board.

Doesn’t matter how much Premier League clubs get, there’s no reason to be charging away fans that much at league 1, especially with the ‘facilities’ we provide in the away end

Just having a look into it and it turns out we’re charging Stevenage £24 advance and £28 matchday.

They’re taking the f*cking piss. Total money grab at well supported teams.

Under £25 is reasonable. Why are we charging Portsmouth fans more than we are Stevenage?

A seat on the board ? What has that got to do with admission prices.

You pay your admission to watch a game for football, not to sit on the board. Its also a pointless gesture as fan has no powers and can be out voted by the other directors and fan would be bound by a duty of confidentiality so could not disclose to anyone what had been said in board meetings other than in any published boar minutes.

How do you propose the club pays its staff if it doesn't charge the admission prices it does?

In the last published accounts to June 2022, the club paying players L2 level wages lost £2.2m or approximately £50k a week. If fans want a football team to support, they are going to have to pay the costs, unless you want Orient run like Southend where players and staff don't get paid. Mind you I think it was tried at Orient a few years ago under FB and didn't go too well

I want us to stay affordable and would rather we stayed in L1 or L2 than be priced out of watching Orient like Fulham fans are in the PL

It’s the same price they are charging home fans isn’t it? The jump in ticket prices is unacceptable in my book and surprised no one has formally asked questions of this yet

Given Orient were losing £50k per week in L2 two years ago, to get to be sustainable at what you think an- affordable level, you might be going a lot lower down the pyramid

Given the crowds last season and the sell out of all season tickets available, it looks like the public are prepared to pay the price. This is the key thing. If people are turning up and paying the prices asked, its obviously affordable to them

PS I agree prices are far higher than I would like, but blame those who pay them. If no one paid on day and visiting fans boycotted games, then prices would change rapidly
