Not the greatest start with a drab 1 nil win for Australia over Ireland, hopefully the games pick up from here.

Odd to focus on that when the Football Ferns played really well when causing a big upset in the very first game.

Had no idea it was on! Despite being hosts they've only got the Aussies games on free to air here, and there's been virtually no advertising for anything other than the Matilda's

Such an odd comment.
Great to see you are on board with women’s football.

Completely! What a wonderful win by the NZ girls. Seems churlish to say it has been a lacklustre opening.

Seriously? If he said that a men's match in the World Cup was dull ( which they often are) would that suggest that he was not " on board" with men's football?

My daughter plays and has more skill than most SPFL players but things get a bit tricky between us when we discuss the wimmins game which I'm not a fan of.
Mainly I think because it's not played at the same pace, intensity or spirit of the men's game. I wont mention the goal keeping. It's a different game.
But it doesn't stop me supporting the game and hoping the Orient and Motherwell ladies win.

It’s the same as women’s cricket, it can’t be compared to men’s, just enjoy it for what it is.
Good luck England, bring home a trophy, the men can’t do it!

I'm shocked that the Thai national team haven't made it to the finals considering the amount of ladyboys they have, I guess they are far to busy with other activities.

I thought about it but CEB had just worked himself out of TERF mode and I didn't want to trigger him.

Its between Spain, USA and England I think.
Spain only turned up for about 10 mins yday and was enough for Costa Rica. Surprised to see the Septics only won 3-0, but maybe its a tactic to not embarrass teams like they did with Thailand in 2019. Need more eyes on the product, and 13-0 wins don't really help that cause.

Just heard that The Lion Ladies won 1-0 against the minnows in the tournament today and, that by all accounts, they were pish. Or is it being disrespectful to women's football to say such a thing?

England always start slowly in world cups

It’s all about game time in group stage and winning, I thought the winning margin would be more like 3 or 4-0, but was impressed with Haiti, they will def give Denmark and China a game.
England will grow into the tournament, and looked good going forward, especially when Lauren James came on, England linked up really well and looked very dangerous going forward, when she came on, she has to start, she is def Engkands game changer.
Only worry as England go deeper into tournament is defence, as they looked very dodgy today, all over the place at times, but hopefully defensively they will improve every game.

I thought England were a tad fortuitous this morning & were helped by the dreaded VAR. I thought Haiti were actually a good side & the young girl Dumornay was outstanding. All in all England take a lot from the 3pts & clean sheet.
Women's football has certainly come a lot over the last 10 years both in terms of techniques & athletic ability.

Our defence looked rather wobbly, gave Haiti a lot of chances in behind. As usual Mary Earps to the rescue but can't give those kind of chances to the better sides.

Games so far have been nothing to get excited about and England looked a shadow of the team that won last years Euro cup, the three key players who are out injured are badly missed.
