Southend FC

Today is the day that Southend are in front of the court concerning HMRC issues. Looking on their forum last night the odds of remaining as a football club in the National league look bleak. It is a shame because they are run by a chairman not liked by their fans. The proposed takeover has not gone ahead as planned. Although not liked by our fans you don’t want to see them in this positio. Good luck today

My son in law supports them and is very concerned for their future, comments like this are not the view of every football fan ,remember we nearly went out of business.

If they disappear, I'll be sorry for their fans but also think, thank goodness again that T & T came along in our hour of need.

Let’s hope something positive comes of todays hearing, no one wants to see any team wound up, well apart from Type High.
We have been in that position and nearly lost our club, but thankfully T&T rescued us.
I hope Southend survive today and Find there T&T, as football needs clubs like Southend.

They have so much potential, it's such a shame. Their fan base is bigger than ours and regularly get attendances near us even though they are in the NL and have lower away fans attending.

If they do get new owners, which I hope they do, they could be in a position to imitate, if not better, our recent journey.

We know the uncertainty that Southend fans are going through , and I wouldn’t wish that on any football club supporters.I hope the takeover takes place and they survive

Something has to give at some point, they've got a season ticket for the High Court. The uncertainty we went through was dreadful but this has all been dragging on for about 10 years.

Agreed . After going through the same thing ourselves during the Beelzebub era I feel sorry for any set of supporters who find themselves in the same position . Why doesn't Ron Martin just sell the club and bugger off .

I'm not crying for Southend, after all, they were delighted to see us relegated from L2

The same garbage was given to the court by Ron Martin back in March. Given 6 weeks today by the court to sell the club and pay off the creditors. That’s not going to happen based on previous court meetings. Really feel sorry for the fans who are so passionate.

Garbage?

How do you sell if there is not a willing buyer?

Who do you sell a club to if there is no willing buyer You cannot force someone to own a club

Crazy that it’s over £275k.

They could get half a dozen prem players to give up a days wages and it would be covered.

The court should ask the proposed new owners if they are still interested.Ron Martin can go back to the court next time and still say we are close to selling to get more time. This has being going back to the court on several occasions. The trouble is that Ron is trying to sell a club not worth what he thinks it’s worth

The issue is,Martin wants his cake and to eat it. He wants someone to buy the name of the club, along with the staff, players etc but they will have to rent the ground off of Martin. Bear in mind he already took money from Sainsbury's for the Roots hall site (which I believe Sainsbury's have given up on getting) He has apparently transferred debt from his other companies into Southend's name and took a loan from the league knowing if he didn't get a buyer by the time the season starts he won't be able to pay it back.
Martin lives near me and there are fans protesting outside his house and trying to force him into selling or at least pay staff and players wages.
Very sad to see and this could very easily have been us. There for the grace of god.

Don’t believe anybody is going to buy the club for the money Martin wants . I have a friend who is a season ticket holder and he says the fans cannot wait to see the back of him.How he has convinced the court to a 42 days to allow the takeover to take place is incredible

The court has wriggled its way out way out of taking the blame for the downfall of SUFC. That now falls to the NL who must now start their season, with or without the Shrimpers.
