Re: Charlton signing?
Bonne has already left Charlton FC so he is in fact a footballer who is a free agent. ?
Quote Wikipedia ''On 13 May 2023, it was announced that Bonne would leave the club when his contract expired in June''

Re: Charlton signing?
If there is any truth to this rumour then maybe they meant ex- Charlton . My guess is it must be McCauley Bonne.

Re: Charlton signing?
I wonder if we were ever interested in Alfie May . Anyway Richie said there could be a couple more new signings next week . Maybe one is Bonne .

Probably interested until the price came up, no chance we'd be paying £250kRedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 2:24 pm I wonder if we were ever interested in Alfie May . Anyway Richie said there could be a couple more new signings next week . Maybe one is Bonne .

Re: Charlton signing?
I don’t get this need to re-sign Bonne?
He would be good back up, but we need a No.9 forward who is going to lead the line and get 15-20 goals and in my opinion, Bonne is not that player.
If we do sign him and he proves me wrong, I’ll hold my hands up and say I was wrong, but I honestly cannot see us signing him or him staying fit and scoring 15-20 goals.
He’s an ex player without a club for a reason, let’s move on.

Re: Charlton signing?
It's not a " need "to sign Boone . it's just that he is out of contract so available .Stan1972 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 3:42 pm I don’t get this need to re-sign Bonne?

Re: Charlton signing?
Not sure, I saw Charlton fans discussing the transfer on the League 1 FB group the night before it was announced and the comments were that Charlton had got a great deal for 250k.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 4:00 pmI thought May was out of contract ?gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 3:30 pmProbably interested until the price came up, no chance we'd be paying £250kRedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 2:24 pm I wonder if we were ever interested in Alfie May . Looks like he had a year left to run at Cheltenham...

Re: Charlton signing?
May had a year left but told Cheltenham he wanted to leave, while they didn’t want to lose him they said he could go if. Club met their valuation.
Made sense all round.

Re: Charlton signing?
If I was a Cheltenham supporter I'd be choked to lose him to another League 1 club . At least Vig's and Smyth went up a league or two so we won't be playing against them this season .gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 7:28 pmNot sure, I saw Charlton fans discussing the transfer on the League 1 FB group the night before it was announced and the comments were that Charlton had got a great deal for 250k.

Re: Charlton signing?
With a proper pre-season behind him hopefully Arron can hit the ground running like he did at the start of the 2021-22 season .

But he's not really cut out to 'lead the line'.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 8:14 pmWith a proper pre-season behind him hopefully Arron can hit the ground running like he did at the start of the 2021-22 season .

Re: Charlton signing?
Even I'm not worried about Drinan leading the line.
It's taking a bit longer to get the strikers in we wanted, or should I say Richie wanted.
The one we had almost signed last week was injured, so a new one or two had to be sorted.
Richie knows Drinan isn't any cop in league 1.
They'll be 2 in soon
Drinan may go on loan to a non League club somewhere
