The issue being its money that can only be spent once. Won’t be replenished next year through income. It’s not uncommon for politicians to spend the same money many times over, sounds good. But short term. Boris is taking a leaf out of the Labour book, spending (and probably borrowing) to look good.

Every time Labour came out with a policy it was rubbished with a 'wheres the money coming from?' and the condescending 'there's no magic money trees'. Stinking hypocricy.

The money found was never lost, but put aside in case of no deal.

Tbf I don’t think every Labour policy was rubbished. What was always missing was how they planned to fund all the wonderful things they promised, like no tuition fees, renationalisation, money for the NHS, schools, transportation and so on.

The truth then as now is either increased productivity, higher taxes or accelerated borrowing.

All parties want to spend money, makes them popular. Boris is doing just that - buying popularity.
