Sounds like Rotherham have put in bids, and then several improved bids. Fingers crossed we stand strong.

Would be a real shame to lose big Marv. The squad is thin as it is, and Marv is a big talent....but we know our owners will always take the pound, so I'll not be surprised if he goes.
Its a sad day when we cant hold off teams like Rotherham ffs

I said earlier that the only way the trialist made sense was if either Happe or Ekpiteta we’re leaving .
Thus far we have received £700,000 for bonne and Koroma and because of his release clause Wilkinson was under £20,000. So even if we paid an unlikely £80,000 for Angol that still leaves £600,000 in the kitty, plus the salaries saved on Simpson and lawless only offset by the incoming free transfer wright. We are not desperate for funds and losing Ekpiteta would be a blow.

Doesn't the article imply we have held off Rotherham?
I can't see Marv moving there. It is not the case that they are Championship, like Bonne or Koroma got, or even a massive League One team, I could understand the attractions of Portsmouth, Ipswich or Sunderland. I see Rotherham a bit like us, too small to survive in the Championship.
If he plays today and there are no more trialists I would think they might have moved on to someone else.

Out of interest why do you say our owners will always take the pound?
Also what do you mean by teams like Rotherham? They are a division above having recently spent a few seasons in the Championship and we have just come from two seasons in non-league. Having rejected their bids we are holding them off too.

As well as us rejecting bids that article also says that Rotherham have other targets. But that won't save our pants sh*tting brigade from another ruined pair of underwear.

Are we building a team or selling off yet more of the clubs silverware. The club have got enough money already from the sale of Bonne and Koroma, it’s time to spend some on more quality in attack and midfield, not sell off yet more of our players !!

Great - another talent about to be sold for peanuts? Who in our club agrees to obscenely low release clauses?

It'll be interesting how this one pans out given his contract is up next summer. If not sold now I'd think definitely in January but fee will be peanuts at that point.

If Ekpiteta had a low release clause, he would be gone by now.

We don’t know that Red. Funnily enough, they don’t publicise the fact.

It would be very easy, and in their financial interest, for some players and their agents to let it be known.

From watching last season I thought he would one of the ones to go, a young ball-playing cb is valuable, almost in the stones mould, people don't mind if he makes a few mistakes as they feel the passing and composure and that makes up for it

The people who would rather we got a fee for players than lose them on a free when they would otherwise not sign new contracts? Just a guess.

A wrong guess. Other clubs understand the process. Put in a high release clause for when a player is under contract makes business sense.

Of course the logical way round it is to offer him a better extended contact with a an extremely high buy out clause or no buy out clause at all .

Why don't you understand this? They wouldn't sign the contract if that was the case.

Why don’t you understand? Other clubs protect their assets. We strip ours.

Not going to happen.
Orient have always sold their best players when somebody waves a cheque under their nose,
normally for less than what they are worth, and you be lucky to see 25% ploughed back into the team.
Accept that, and you won’t be disappointed.
