Despite the supposed rivalry I'm glad they now have a way forward. When we were in that position we built up a bit of a pot to use should we had gone out of business. When we didn't it was put aside, I guess to make sure we could secure our future if it didn't work out or it could be used to help other clubs in a similar situation. We are now financially stable but we didn't help Bury or Southend so under what circumstances will that money be spent?

In 2017, when the club was being run down to near-destruction by its then owner, we set up the Leyton Orient Regeneration Fund to raise money to be used in one of several possible crisis scenarios. The club was eventually saved by a consortium led by lifelong fan Nigel Travis, so the fund - some £117k - is retained as an 'insurance policy' against those specific scenarios occurring in the future.
