Why are Ling & the owners not adding to the squad?

With the money from Koroma & Bonne coming in little has been spent on new signings. Is it because the owners want us to be less reliant on their cash or are they saving money for a new manager when RE is sacked. IMO we need another midfielder & striker at a minimum

We do need the players you suggest for sure and they may arrive in January. Mid table us our target and the current squad may be good enough. Keeping their powder dry

I think they were probably surprised at how much they had to put in last season so probably want to cut their losses slightly. I also think that their 'plan' is to be mid-table and anything else is a bonus. They probably have some left in the pot should we need to strengthen in January. I hope its not too late.
I'm torn...like last season, I thought a couple of quality players in a couple of positions would have got us up pretty comfortably with 3 weeks of the season to go. BUT, we got promoted and the result is the same, and they save a few thousand pounds too. It's obviously about setting a goal and then accessing if what we already have will achieve that. You've got to trust them but i'm very nervous going into the season.

Making same mistakes as you all claimed they made last year with too weak a squad.

Sign a couple of top players (for div 2) & we could get a second promotion. Ambition seems to have gone

I donβt think there is any lack of ambition but promotion last season probably caught everyone by surprise.
Itβs about consolidation now for a couple of season s. Get the income streams sorted then push on

The thing is we had an excellent manager ( coach ) last season who got the most out of the players we had . This season and at a higher level we only have an inexperienced interim manager . I'm a bit concerned , especially if we don't add two or three more players to the squad.

Lets learn from Bury FC and spend our money wisely.
Ling knows what he is doing. I trust him 100%.

Key points. Concerns many of us. Lings success rate at appointing managers is 50%. Lets hope it goes up.

The absence of 1-2 key new additions, and backtracking on the Alabi transfer, is simply down to money. Running this football club is proving more expensive for T&T than expected, they're not wild about it, and they've become very cautious on the spending front as a result.

This. The JE influence saved the bacon of the owners and Ling.

Could be holding a bit of money back for when we get a new manager in.

Do you really not know ?
Lingy Nige & Kent all read & post on this board & if they signed to many good & new players they would have much less fun in life as the moaners would here would be quiet & satisfied .
Whers the sport in that ?

It seems odd that we have not yet signed a midfielder. If we don't, we could be in big trouble.

We have signed Wright, but clearly need an enforcer in midfield. Blind Freddie could see that last year - why is it so hard for the club to not understand it?

Anthony Grant from Shrewsbury would fit the bill and he's been told he is not in there plans this season. We could pick him up for a reasonable fee.

I think we may find Mr Turley evolves into our midfield ennforceer. Did an excellent job there vs wrexham while he was on the pitch.

I do think there's more to our finances than meets the eye. The 2 million loss was more than even in L1 under Hearn so all clearly not as rosy and sorted as first suggested.
Will be interesting to see what the books say this year, if there's a Β£1 million upwards loss again there's a problem considering all the additional income Macklin has brought in.
I guess paying JE's wages until duration of his contract adds another unexpected overhead; absolutely no-one would argue with that I'm sure.
What does seem to be lacking this summer is communication or a statement of intent from the board. The lack of transfer activity followed by the veil of silence around Brill and Jobi not playing pre-season is also odd and leading to speculation.
The owners handled the JE situation with class and dignity, we need something from them now to show leadership and build on Justin's legacy. For some of us the fear is we go back down and undo all that hard work for the sake of a few players, don't underestimate the transition from NL to L2 like Ling did from L2 to L1.

Well, I'm pretty sure staff at the club read this board so their aware of what we're saying.
