Do I have the right to moan?
A young bloke in front of me and friends has been taking a pop at us for having a moan during the game especially early on when we can make bad passes or not kicking the ball in Row Z and thus putting unnecessary pressure on the team. Says he has supported for 10 years and best year ever for him so we shouldn't moan and he knows more about football than we do!
Been season ticket holder and supporting for over 50 years and have been through thick and thin and there has been plenty of thin.. Travelled to away games eg Gateshead, Solihull, Maidenhead, Dover in the really bad times .
Do you think I have earned the right to express my feelings even though sometimes a bit moany?
Old gits rule

Re: Do I have the right to moan?
You’re ok … unless you’re the guy at the back of the TJS who moans and swears even if we’re 8-0 up.
But yesterday it was 32 mins into the game before we settled and took the game to CU. That was worrying but …..

Re: Do I have the right to moan?
1) Do you think your moaning contributes to our success at all?
2) We play football from the back. There are going to be times when it looks a bit hairy, there will be times when the opposition turn the ball over, it's how the game is these days. We have quite a few near us who don't get it either.
Basically, you're in the wrong.

You have the right to moan, but maybe consider that if you want to moan at the moment, it might signify that you like moaning, more than there being anything to moan about

The fannying around at the back can get a bit stressful to watch so I think you are ok to moan a bit

Re: Do I have the right to moan?
I sit next to a couple of codgers that moan every single game and as RH says, they don't seem to get that playing it out from the back is the reason why we're top by this many points in April. Used to irritate me more but just find it quite funny now, the number of times they'll groan 'stop messing about with it at the back ', and that passage of play will then directly lead to a chance or goal for us, is comical. They don't learn and are never happy.

Re: Do I have the right to moan?
I don't get the mindset of people who don't moan. Granted, it can be a bit awkward when we're doing well. But professional moaners won't let that throw them off their game. Keep at it.

Re: Do I have the right to moan?
Expect to see much more of the 'fannying around at the back' now pitches are returning to normal, so best the moaners get used to it.ContrifibulatoryFred wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 8:19 am The fannying around at the back can get a bit stressful to watch so I think you are ok to moan a bit

Re: Do I have the right to moan?
Rather than moaning back at them, I find it best to respond with a sarcstic 'Stop retaining possession in order to encourage the high press, manoeuvring the opposition out of position and freeing up space for our creative players to exploit the space, for f**ks sake Orient'.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 8:20 am I sit next to a couple of codgers that moan every single game and as RH says, they don't seem to get that playing it out from the back is the reason why we're top by this many points in April. You're entitled to moan, just as others are entitled to moan about your moaning.

Re: Do I have the right to moan?
Of course everybody is entitled to their opinion.
But you have to decide whether you think voicing those opinions helps anyone. Especially at home, in a tight promotion decider ffs.
You also have accept that others are entitled to their opinion - so if you are shouting out what they think is nonsense, they are entitled to tell you that.

Re: Do I have the right to moan?
It is an Orient fan’s birthright to moan as it is if you are a fan of any other Club. Does the moaning get worse as we get older, probably but it makes up for the lack of passionate moaning during sex as age progresses

Re: Do I have the right to moan?
What's the alternative? Lump it upfield with a near certainty of losing possession. Fannying around is dangerous of course and we all have our hearts in our mouths but we're top, I reckon it's the only way to go - if the players are up to it.TRUMP Plumbing wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 10:07 amExpect to see much more of the 'fannying around at the back' now pitches are returning to normal, so best the moaners get used to it.ContrifibulatoryFred wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 8:19 am The fannying around at the back can get a bit stressful to watch so I think you are ok to moan a bit

Re: Do I have the right to moan?
Think Wellens probably hears the worst of the oldies grumbling seeing as the west stand is where they tend to congregate.
The resolute refusal to enjoy what is the most dominant Orient team within a division in decades is plain odd. If you can't appreciate this team, what will ever be good enough to make the whiners happy?

Re: Do I have the right to moan?
The people who moan about fannying around with it at the back are the same Eeyore's who then complain when we do a panicked punt forward to noone.Milano wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 10:51 amWhat's the alternative? You can be either euphoric or a moaner. Please pick one.
There is no middle ground. You are absolutely not allowed to express any doubts, reservations or concerns about any aspect of any Orient match you may have witnessed AND be delighted at our amazing season and likely promotion, because most people on here don't seem to be able to understand that it is possible to hold more than one thought in your head at a time. It reflects a polarisation in society where people who take a different view are just plain wrong or stupid - that's not a good thing.

Re: Do I have the right to moan?
Don't think anyone is saying you have to be a constant happy clappy, but constantly moaning about a fundamental part of our game that has gotten us 7 points clear at the top with a game in hand in April is a bit silly, no?
