Who would you pick to get the Os to the title. Sadly I'm old enough to remember Jimmy and I know it's a different time, tactics, formations, diets, pitch's,balls and all, but Jimmy Greaves was the greatest goal scorer ever and will take a gooden to beat him.

I’d pick Kane, as Jimmy Greaves is dead

I once saw JG at Spurs playing against Aston Villa, he turned five Villa defenders inside out before putting the goalkeeper on his arse before putting the ball in. For me, Greaves was the greatest English goalscorer of all time.

It has to be Saint and Greavsie for me not Kane and Greavsie.

Did Greavsie take penalties?

In fairness, the defenders probably fell over because they were still pissed from their Friday night session.

Different times, there's no comparison.

I doubt Kane would ever get this angry about the Met Office:

I wonder, had Greavsy been born 50 years later, if he would have still been as great, because he was amazing.
During his time, defenders wernt very good footballers, whereas now, they are, at the top level.
Kane is a different type of striker to Greaves.
Both are/were fantastic goalscorers, and either at Orient would seal our promotion without doubt, because its the lack of goalscoring ability thats got me worried at the moment

“Oak trees picked out as if they were bits of watercress” is actually a wonderful metaphor. You won’t catch Kane being as poetic as that. The bloke can barely string a sentence together.

The wonderful thing about Greaves was that he usually dribbled round the goalkeeper. I think goalkeepers are a lot better today and he would probably not have been so successful.

One cannot compare the different times they played in, suffice to say they were/are both greats of the game. Because of my age, I'll go for Greaves as the best, but I love winding up Spurs supporters by telling them I saw Harry's first ever senior goal, they get so mad about this.

Spurs fans get "mad" that Kane scored his first senior goal for Os? Seriously?

I'm a Spurs fan and it doesn't wind me up one little bit. In fact I'm quite glad we were able to help out our local little club., should happen more often than it does.

Yeah, cos greaves totally played in an era where centre halves let forwards do what they like and didn't kick the crap out of them without fear of getting sent off

Greavesie's goals to games ratio is more impressive and he played in an era when you couldn't rack up goals against the likes of San Marino and Andorra. A third of Kane's goals are from penalties. I know you've still got to score them, but it does make it a bit easier. Totally different kind of players of course, but in terms of natural goal scoring ability, Greaves by far the better of the two in my opinion

Greaves for me - last time I saw him play was for Chelmsford against Walthamstow Avenue at Green Pond Road.
And he was still scoring then !

If this was a thread about the weather you'd turn it to something negative about the club. You need to seek help.

Harsh on Kane I think, disregarding international level (when pens are more likely to be awarded in the modern era) of his 200+ PL goals, only 30 are from the spot, which doesn't seem that skewed. Also would bet - haven't looked it up tbf - that Greaves' England tally contained a few against some minnow outfits.

1 goal against Luxembourg would be the only goal against a minnow. Although, Greaves was nominally England's penalty taker, they were never awarded one while he was playing. Changed days indeed.

Tbf he also scored 4 in one game against Norway who were absolute pish in the 60s.
