BBC being embarrassing here. Lineker picking a hill to die on, so fair play, but also he was pretty much congratulating the tories on their most recent general election win, no? What did he expect the tories to be like?

If Lineker was fired it would have zero affect on the ratings and he earns 1.25 m a year. I doubt it’s Lineker in charge here.

So Fiona Bruce, so desperate to protect her sainted Johnson clan that she actually defends Stanley Johnson's breaking of his wife's nose as "it only happened once" - WHILE SHE'S ACTUALLY DOING HER BBC JOB - result, nothing.

Lineker - quite separate from his paid work - using his personal twitter account to comment on the appalling language being used by the current government - effectively gagged.

Maybe he's already got enough so is lucky enough to decide that principles and ethics matter more. Would be refreshing if more people in the world did the same.

Funny how the Tories have been banging on about fighting the wokies who want everything banned, to appeal to their fanbase, but all of a sudden are outraged at a meek tweet that shows them up for what they are.

In the space of a couple of days, the Tories have traduced Englands Golden Boot winning football captain, cancelled our National Treasure and the greatest broadcaster we've ever produced, and taken a great wet stinking dump all over Winston Churchill's European Convention on Human Rights and his UNHCR, all to try to move the debate away from their epic failure and onto more familiar ground. And they have the f*cking nerve to stand in front of Union Flags and kid on they're patriotic.

Government responds to criticism that they look a bit fash by shutting down anyone in the public eye saying so and pressuring the state broadcaster into burying programmes highlighting the environmental damage caused by their actions and policies. Righto.

Just shows how far we've gone as a country that, after sobbing about how mean it is that anyone would make comparisons between your policies and 1930s Germany, your immediate response is to do things you'd probably have seen in 1930s Germany and a large chunk of the population will lap it up.

Will this lead to Alan Sugar f*cking off from our screens for his non stop stream of racist, sexist, anti worker bollox on twitter? If so, it's a trade off I can deal with, but somehow have the impression there's a double standard here.
