3 reasons for starters

Damned if I can put my finger on that one!

I know I’ll get shot for saying it but last night was far from a table-topping performance. Yes, I’m grateful; yes, I’m happy with getting points from awful games; yes, seasons are made of blood, sweat and tears.

But the Os have not actually inspired me since about November, to be frank.

I love my Os and have only ever in 56 years * watched games involving the Os (hence my ID on this forum) but we have a long haul ahead or we’ll do a FGR and drop straight back.

IMO we should have absolutely p!ssed this league this season.

And talking of p!ssed - LET’S PARTY !!!!!

Primary reason is we've the best defence.

We've conceded just 19 goals in 32 games, that is excellent. Next best is Stevenage with 23 goals from 29 games, being one of six other teams who have conceded less than 30, but four of them are 28/29s, and all six have played 2/3/4 less games than us.

Possibly a controversial opinion from me but I think the fact that there just isn’t a standout team in L2 this year has something to do with it.

I can’t name a single team this season who I’ve thought “they are different class”. You usually get at least 1.

If we could score goals we would be that team, because the defence is rock solid. We also have a number of individual players who are clearly a step above L2 on their day.

1 El Miz
2 Vigs
3 Beckles

in that order.

The reason for this is that we are the best team. Walsall in the second half and Rochdale in the first half would have been thinking "they are different class"

Its the quality on the ball of the individuals, combined with the playing philosophy of Wellens. We retain the ball better; press the ball better; defend the edge of the box better than any other side in the division.

Oh and the keeper ain't bad either!!

Isn't there a team at the top of L2 who are by definition, and points lead, standing out?

I listen to managers of other teams that we have played. Most of them say we are above the standard of any other club in this league. I suggest you listen to Rochdale manager after last nights game and hear what he said about Orient.

Our approach play, in the first half was 'different class'. We looked like Barcelona at times......if only we could finish well, we'd have been at least 4 up at half time, and thats how we've been all season. There's no other team that can get near that as consistently as we have.

We have quality individuals, such as El Miz, James, Archibald, Vigs, Becks, Smythe, etc etc

We are the best team, and if we had a centre forward who could put the ball in the net occasionally, we'd be even better

When all fit we have the best Goalie, defence and midfield in league 2 .Our only weakness has been our strikers but with such a good midfield and defence we've been OK for goals . Edit, it was good to see Sotiriou scoring last night .

We are very well organised and hardworking from front to back. This means we have an excellent defensive record.

We maintain possession extremely well for a lower division team.

We have a number of players who could comfortably perform at a higher level.

I'd say it's these three factors that are covering up for the fact we don't have a forward who is scoring a high number of goals.

These players (if fit) would get into any other side in this division:

Vigouroux, Beckles, Happe, El-Mizouni, Moncur, Archibald, Smyth, Sadlier (probably, though it might be too early to say).

Obvs two on that list aren't fit as often as we'd like, but still... an "All-Star League Two XI" would have more than half its players drawn from our squad.

Very good manager who is getting s tune out of average players. Some very good loan signings. Some very good players on the books who should be playing at a higher level.
