Amidst all the furore about Richie's choice of defenders at Stevenage why is Jayden Sweeney not mentioned? A defence of:

Vigoroux

Sweeney Hunt

Brown Thompson

doesn't look too bad!

Richie has already held his hands up and said he wrongly set up the team.Maybe obviously Sweeney should have played . Hopefully if we can steer clear of any more injuries and stupid red cards our defence shouldn’t be that weak again

Can't say I've been all that impressed with Hunt and possibly only a marginal upgrade on Woods. Sweeney however looks like he will be a decent player as does ok defensively and also a damn sight better than Hunt going forward.

Everybody has written off Jamie McCart after just one game. Just putting it out there, Sweeneys first game at Carlisle was much worse.

Sweeney will be gone when his contract is up.

One thing’s for sure after his performance last Saturday Jamie has to pull his finger out.

Are you negotiating that then?

I think that was only his second 90 minutes of the season. He will get much better (if he gets in ahead of Thommo) being Beckles junior in the partnership. Last weekend he was trying to find his own feet whilst helping Turns to adapt.

Agree. If we lose Sweeney, it will come back to haunt us, both on the pitch and in the bank account

I accept that but he still has to step up, sharpish . We’re going for promotion and can’t afford any passengers

I don't think you are saying anything that either he or RW already knows. However RW will mitigate it against the playing time he's had so far this season. Depends how he shows out in training this week to see if he gets the nod over Thommo.

It was his first 90 minutes, I think - he had only started 1 game this season but was subbed. All his other 8 appearances had been coming on late for a few minutes as sub......

I did point out at the time some people were getting carried away simply because he was loaned from a Championship club.
