New ticketing system

Ordered my first tickets of the season and the system worked fine but there was a booking fee as well as a postage charge. I don't recall a booking fee before?
It's immaterial to me as flights, hotels etc are my major cost in seeing Orient but for others is this going to be an issue?

I guess the club may need to finance the system, pay the wages of the people who print and post the ticket and even pay for postage. Fairly common practice these days, so long as they don’t take the P.

Actually I think it's me. The booking fee is only a quid per ticket but because I booked four rather than my normal one, a four quid booking fee looked a lot but it's these glory hunters I'm bringing along that are the problem. πŸ˜€

Well worth the fee, I hope.

Hello Kent.

Absolute quality if Danny Mack is clamping down on things to such an extent that even the Board are having to buy a ticket to get inside the ground.

(Sorry, Danny ;) )

Think the fee used to be 50p.

No booking fee if you pay on the day, it’s just Β£2 extra...

Would cost more to get the tube there and back for me. And it would take about 45 minutes round trip. Β£1/ticket + 50p postage isn’t so bad. I paid Β£7 in fees on top of a Β£30 ticket for The Who last week and I had to print the ticket myself.

I take it that you never go out? Every sport has a booking fee, concerts, theatre absolutely everyone charges. For the recent baseball I paid Β£48 in fees, if you don't pay you dont get it.

I don't agree the charges should be that high, but they are so I'd suggest Β£1 is more than fair price to pay.

Booking fees for tickets are widely considered a disgrace for all type of event. They are simply an unnecessary way of eeking another couple of quid out.

If it really is so necessary, just include it in the cost price of the ticket and make it fairer.

Just because its done elsewhere, and its a part of 'life' doesn't make it okay. Everything is part of 'life' until you change it.

Red I didn't say I agreed with it, it's a fact of life and until the government does something like they did with credit card charges it will not change.

The amount I've given over to matchroom and stub hub for boxing tickets would make you eyes water, the choice I have do I want to go and therefore pay the charge or watch it at home? I pay and go, but thats my choice.

Just because something is allowed, doesn't mean you should do it or that it is right. Orient could easily not charge this fee.

I'm glad that you are fortunate enough to be able to pay for this kind of thing. There are many people out there who simply can't pay for such luxuries.

You don't pay booking fees if you buy from the Orient Box Office. The fees pay for the booking system (which is normally a third party licence based on sales) and to be fair to Orient they only re-introduced them last season as costs got too high.

Most theatres/venues don't charge a booking fee if you book direct. I got Palladium tickets recently with no booking fee. Just as well at a cost of Β£62 each (though they do include a restoration levy of Β£1.50). Also no booking fees with Dice.

Unfortunately, the Ticketmaster/AXS/See Tickets/Eventim cartel have most events sewn up between them, but always worth trying to go direct where possible. http://www.beatthetouts.com/
