McAnuff

From what I can tell he doesn't seem to be taking part in pre-season training. Bit of a worry as it means we probably won't see much of him on the pitch despite him being one of our most important players last season.

Hopefully that means we bring in another wide player/midfielder to replace him, which we need anyway.

Also from the pics in Spain there's another player involved who I can't recognise, so possible new signing who hasn't been announced yet?

He said on Saturday to 'not get too used to it just yet', when told the coaching kit suited him.

Can’t see him playing too many games this season.

No biggy. We are only a division higher and he was only our best player last season and we haven't signed another winger. should be fine.

I appreciate your sarcasm. Very true.

It's interesting to see if we go with the wingbacks. If we did it would make having an out and out winger a bit pointless.

And key CM for about half the season too, where funny enough we also haven't strengthened.

With the 352, we have four senior central midfielders. I'd be very surprised to see us bring in another.

Wright, Clay, but that’s it. Gorman makes 3 at a push I guess. We still need that combative holding player in there.

Wright, Clay, McAnuff, Gorman- 4.

I'm not saying what's right or wrong, I'm just commenting on what I feel will occur.

Fair enough.

Need another winger then, don’t we.

Agreed, I think it's important to have a squad that can play both 5-3-2 and 4-4-2 depending on opposition, form , etc

Maguire-Drew, Brophy, McAnuff, probably Dayton. Doubt we’ll be bringing one in, considering we’ll almost certainly be playing 5-3-2. Can’t see more than a versatile forward player coming in unless Happe goes. Perhaps a combative centre mid.

1 winger and 1 holding midfielder are required, surprised that they e not yet been brought in. At present our squad is arguably weaker than the one that finished the season.

Jobi is great but he can’t play CM and on the wing at the same time.

No arguably about it.

Both our starting 11 and the squad as a whole are weaker now than. We were never going to improve on Bonne and Koroma, which means it’s crucial that we upskill in other positions. We haven’t.

It's a difficult one because of we bring in a winger but 352 works really well, they're going to be pretty redundant.

IMO, it is currently weaker. We still need another central midfielder, winger and striker

I'm not sure they will fetch in a striker, I agree one is required if they intend to get rid of Alabi, but I'm not so sure that will happen.

I think Alabi will stay. It's been stated elsewhere that he has already turned down 4 offers from other clubs. I don't know how true this is

Hadn't seen that anywhere, got any links?

One guy mentioned it on Twitter.

Looking at the clubs Lawless, Elokobi and Lee ended up with (no club in the case of Lee) you would think the clubs coming in for Alabi are much worse than us, relegation fodder or National League South who would also ask for a salary contribution.

Given that we only have 2 senior strikers and a third choice (Harrold) who might not be up to 90 minutes, I'd be staying if I were Alabi as well, especially knowing that it's going to be fairly easy to get goals in pre-season given the standard of the sides we are facing.

That seems to be the logical way of looking at it, although no doubt the gullible will see it as some kind of love for the club.

The guy's attitude has been good, but I wonder why David Mooney didn't have the same opinions?? He had a bad season and the consensus was 'lovely guy, but just not good enough'. Nobody was giving him another chance to put things right.
