Re: What's happening with new signings??
I hope we sign a few more in the next few weeks. Players need time to gel with the squad (especially this season) and start getting used to a style.
Relatively happy with the signings so far.
Desperately need at least one more midfielder who can make something happen, wins the ball, etc... probably a striker and a winger too.

Yep, those three would be the minimum really.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 4:34 pm I hope we sign a few more in the next few weeks. Players need time to gel with the squad (especially this season) and start getting used to a style.

Trust that behind the scenes that this is being addressed but it will be an error of judgement if this hasn't been addressed in early August. Not going to make this an issue until it actually is one though.

Re: What's happening with new signings??
I wouldn't say that. I was told about Wright and Angol before they happened. That said I was also told Turley won't be signing.
I heard we had bid for Louis Dennis early in the week, but that one has gone a bit quiet.
I wouldn't panic, the signings will come. The starting 11 is basically in place, so any new additions will be to complement what we have already, rather than dramatically change it.

I liked the sound of this Dennis. The 6'1" winger from Portsmouth?

I would love to see Louis Dennis sign, a really skillful player - the fans would love him.

"The News", Portsmouth. Yesterday.
Dennis will not be allowed to leave unless a suitable replacement can be found.
Apparently they have received inquiries from several clubs, (so we are not the only ones interested,) but no offers.
Seeing that Dennis was limited to only 5 or 6 appearances last season, ( only 1 League One appearance for 30 minutes,) their attitude appears a bit bloody minded and would be testing the relationship between club and player. Of course, it would also be a "negotiating stance" to get the best price for a player they picked up on a "Free" from Bromley only 12 months ago.

Re: What's happening with new signings??
The squad we’ve got is alright IMO maybe another lower league journeyman or two. I have faith in ML & RE. We’ll be ok. Play off position for sure.

Pretty certain we won't get one. A player who can play up front and wide is likely though.

Providing we don’t get any injuries or suspensions and the current squad don’t lose form and are able to give 100% in every game at a super level of performance I make you right.

Re: What's happening with new signings??
Add me to the squad at no cost. That makes 26. But don’t improve it any. Though I make a decent cup of tea and can clean football boots so contribute fully.

Pitiful comment. I had the inside track on Simpson last season well before a chump like you.

Re: What's happening with new signings??
Last season our CM options were consistently poor, JE somehow got us over the line in spite of that rather than because of it yet we reduce our options instead.
Striking options were poor outside of Bonne and Koroma. We lose both, replace them like for like but don't strengthen. So now we've still got no options outside an unproven new pairing. Alabi is still one of our 4 strikers for the Harlow game today
Dayton still hasn't signed. Even if he does we're light on options if you count Jobi as a CM now. That assumes he doesn't step back a bit to do more on the coaching side. Remember we no longer have Koroma there to plug the winger gap if we're short.
The only one we don't need to replace of the released players is Grainger. Bringing in less than we release otherwise and replacing with kids who haven't even played NL level let alone L2 is classic Orient cost cutting if signings don't come in.
Taking your statement as a reference point answer me this. If we don't bring any more players in would you say the squad is stronger or weaker than it ended last season?
Don't assume L2 will be an easy ride, people seem to be not giving the step up in level any respect which is a dangerous game imo.
