If 82 points is enough

to win promotion, we have put ourselves in a very good position. It means that we need another 54 points from our remaining 36 games. That is not more than 1,5 points pr. game until the end of the season.

An other way to look at it, is that we "only" have to win 18 of the next 36 games to reach 82 points.

Don't like all this positive hypothesising - probably because I'm not used to it. Lets keep playing well; picking up points and see where it gets us.

86 points should be used imo. 1.61 points required. Therefore we we require 41 points by the end of October (for 1.5). 13 points from 6 games. With only 2 games in November, there is the issue of loss of momentum thereafter. Saturdays game is huge imo.

I think every game is huge after the start we've made 🤔

I don't go along with all this analysing of how many points before christmas, or if we average 1.5 points per game from the end of February etc etc... It's the old cliche for me ; ' take every game (to win) as it comes.'

Yes ,just take one game at a time . Try and win as many points as we can and see where that takes us . Hopefully promotion.

Agree with all above but if we could get to a 1.5 points per game requirement it would be psychologically huge. 1.57142857 if we win on Saturday.

I don't suppose the lads singing And Now You'd Better Believe Us at Barrow last Saturday read this board but if anyone knows any if them, please ask them not to tempt fate!! I haven't heard it very often over all the years. In fact the 2 most recent promotions I don't remember it at all. It's too early for it right now though I'm sure.

Yes , I hope they’re not Tempting fate either because remember, this is Orient we’re talking about. However considering everything we’ve been through since 2014 it’s understandable.

85 points should more or less guarantee you promotion. Only two exceptions to that in relatively recent years which were when Hereford racked up 88 points in 2007/8 to finish 3rd (although getting only 83 would have still got them promoted) and in 2015/16 when Accrington got 85 points but finished 4th behind Bristol Rovers on goal difference.

We got 81 in 2005/6 to finish 3rd and there have been several cases since then of sides only registering 78 and 79 points but still finishing 3rd and being automatically promoted.

But, given the sensational start that we have made, we shouldn't be thinking about finishing third. We should be going for the title. In Richie we trust.

This is the point where last year went slightly wrong before the big drop off a cliff.
4th after 10 games, 6 th after 15, 9th after 20, 15th after 25 never to revisit the top half.
Let’s keep our feet on the ground.
