If It Weren't Orient?
Who would you support & why? To get decent answers, you have to imagine yourself born & living on a remote area away from any League team. Let's say the Shetlands. Who would be your team & why? It could be because: you're a glory hunter, you like their name, you like their colours , sympathy ( the Munich air crash did it for Man U ), or you like one of their players.
For me it would be Wimbledon; their supporters were well & truly stitched up and like a phoenix they have risen from the ashes. Anyone who says Orient, I will say, there is something wrong with their imagination, and don't ever try to write a novel.

As Ross County are probably the closest professional team to Shetland it would have to be them but I doubt I would go very often.

Newcastle. They were good when I was a kid, but not good that every idiot supported them (like Man U). I liked their kit and thei players. Also used to play as them on FIFA 96 because shearer snd asprilla were quality on 5 a side mode.
Re: If It Weren't Orient?
Definitely Stenhousemuir. I've always supported them from afar. Don't know anything about them apart from the fact that they are probably less successful then the Os, which is a big factor.

Brechin City, if I can't support my home club might as well pick the team where one set of grandparents came from.
Other grandparents came from Leyton like me, so that's their home team out for this thread.

Fulham were the closest professional team to me growing up and they were getting good by the early/mid 2000s. Had a half season ticket there for a year when they were at Loftus Road.
Other local side were Wimbledon and used to watch the odd game of theirs, original and then AFC versions of the club. Had an AFC supporting friend who made their ascent up the non league pyramid sound incredibly fun.

(Away end at W*** H**)
But as to supporting a club , my second team has been Ajax, so an easy choice

If Orient didn't exist, I wouldn't be able to support any other team. Orient is my only team and always will be.
My love for this club is monumental

Yes , but we’re talking about an alternative universe where Orient wasn’t invented. You wouldn’t know anything about a team named Orient . The idea about this thread is to think outside the boxComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 12:59 pm If Orient didn't exist, I wouldn't be able to support any other team. Re: If It Weren't Orient?
Last night I picked up a couple of Celtic fans who were singing Bella Ciao in the back of the cab. Once I explained to them what the song was about they loved it even more. To be fair they had a vague sense that it was a socialist Anthem.
When I then played them the Yves Montand version they were ecstatic. I sang along in Italian and did the whistling bit in the outro and they did the chorus. Fare £6.70. Fare plus tip £12.00. Mission accomplished!

Re: If It Weren't Orient?
I don't think it would be anyone at my time of life. I'd probably wander and watch either Bromley or Sevenoaks Town occasionally (they are local). Half a lifetime ago I might have taken another team, but not these days.

Ayr United for me. Always look for their results. They were the team my Dad supported and the closest pro team to where he was born. I saw them quite a few times when I was younger.

Interesting - I live a few hundred yards from the Whaddon Road ground. Why Cheltenham?

Caledonian Thistle. Not sure why, but I like the name and they have a cracking ground by the Kessock Bridge overlooking the Moray Firth.

Re: If It Weren't Orient?
Never having watched any other team ‘in the flesh’ since my first Os game on 15-4-67, it’s a bit difficult to say but I guess I would ‘geographically’ err towards Cambridge United.

Freeze to death in winter supporting them and that wind.
I used to support Leeds as a kid. Can’t stand them now. If I had to pick a club to support it would have to be someone cra p as moaning every week is my kryptonite. Halifax town.

Mallorca fc , holidayed there about 20 times and seen several games ( mostly 2nd division ) and always enjoyed the experience , hoping to watch them again next month when I'm out there ( luckily I don't miss any of our home games ).
