Pick the bones out of that. It’s one of those where it’s easy to mark too high but on the flip side, we are top of the league and won 4-2 so who cares.
Vigouroux. 7. Nearly got a hand to the pen. Mostly solid.
Hunt. 7. The epitome of solid.
Happe. 6. A few wobbly moments and his distribution wasn’t the best.
Beccles. 7. Steady eddy.
James. 7.5. Makes it all look so easy. Would love to know his pass completion stats. Different class for this level.
El miz. 7. Perhaps not quite as good as his first couple of games but still a big influence.
Pratley. 8. Excellent. Unsung hero.
Smyth. 8. Goal and another assist. He stays fit we get promoted.
Archibald. 6.5. A little off it again. He didn’t have a bad game per se but can do better.
Moncor 7 Silky smooth on the ball. Could be a bit of a luxury on a cold winters night in err Hartlepool? Let’s see.
Kelman MOM 8. Wellens will love that performance. Run himself into the ground. Another goal.
Subs. 7. Ruel scored and there is something about Brown I really like. Will be an important player for us this season.
Wellens. 7. Won’t be especially pleased we made it so difficult for ourselves. Let’s be honest, Hartlepool had two lively forwards but offered nothing across the rest of the pitch
Hartlepool. 5.
Ref. 5. Gave us a pen that wasn’t a pen then didn’t give us a pen that was a pen.

Theo set up kelmans 1st then
controlled & played a great ball to Smyth for the 3rd &
El Miz let pools back in with the pen , swap the half point up on Theo & drop El Miz for the pen

Vigs 6, only because nothing to do
James 7
Beccles 7
Happe 7
Hunt 7
El Miz 8
Pratley 8
Moncur 6
Theo 6
Kelman 7
Smyth 6
Enjoyable but bizarre game. We were so much better than them it wasn’t true. Should have been much more than 2 goals ahead.

I thought James wasn't great today by his own standards
Kelman and pratley were superb and didn't stop working
Theo has been quietly totting up assists this season while maybe not be in your face

4-2 totally flattered Hartlepool today……..we looked very good going forward, and probably should have scored 6 or 7.
Just hope we can keep Paul Smyth injury free, and Kelman looks a quality signing, he’s got great pace and took his goal really well.
Silly mistakes at the back almost cost us, as they did against Mansfield. Two weeks ago Vigs saved us but he wasn’t called upon much today. Happe wasn’t great today and maybe Thompson deserves a chance at CB.
Hartlepool are in for a long season if today’s performance is anything to go by, apart from the two guys up front they offered very little, with their defence being one of the worst Seen for a while in E10.
We also seem to have finally found a genuine penalty taker in George Moncur, two already this season, both well struck, let’s hope we get more.
I thought our penalty today was a bit harsh on Hartlepool as it looked as though the foul was just outside the area.
I was surprised that the Ref gave the pen. But then it looked as though Smyth was bundled over in the area later in the 1st half and the ref refused a cert penalty.
All in all an entertaining game.

Why’s everyone saying Thompson should come in at CB when Ogie clearly next in line, and the better player?

I just think there’s still so much more to come from the flair players.
Once they get to that stage of almost telepathic understanding of where the front 3 are moving off the ball our attack could be a really frightening prospect for the rest of the league.
The biggest threat to this side is believing its own hype, something I'm sure RW & PT will be making sure they keep a lid on. Stay humble, keep working hard and put the opposition to the sword and great things can be achieved.

Nah the biggest threat is injuries. It's the main reason our best players are in this league.

Given lack of depth, especially in midfield, yeah I agreee that’s our biggest risk.
But which players are here because of previous injury problems?

Smyth had a few at QPR & pretty sure Aaron
was injured at Ipswich , at least thats what
I remember reading when they got signed

I’m with you on this.
There were signs of it yesterday. It’s how we allowed Hartlepool back into the game, just taking our foot off the gas a little when only 1-0 up.
But yea, there’s no way Richie will allow complacency to take hold.

Smith replaced on tbe bench with Drinan, who can then come on for Archibald, Smyth or Kelman to keep things fresh

The good thing at the moment is with Kelman firing as he is we don't desperately need Drinan back. Will be nice to have the option but we do have the luxury of being able to get him 100% and take no chances in tbe rehab process.

Weird but enjoyable game. Can't quite get my head around being top of the league and still not firing on all cylinders.
Hartlepool were dire, I fear for them tbh.
Need to get on top of the needless yellow cards though, this could come back to bite us in the winter if we're not careful.

Drinnan will go on the bench for the time being.
His time will come, the current front 3 won’t be able to play every game so it’s up to Aaron to take his chance when it comes.
Having all of Drinnan, Smith and Ruel on the bench is really impressive.

Fair point.
Smyths was stupid. Ruel nearly had a second, it’s possible that Kelman booting the ball away and picking up a card actually saved him from a red.

I think Harry Smith will fall down the pecking order.
I can’t see RW changing our front three much at all unless there is an injury or suspension.
Who can tell though, we did look excellent going forward yesterday but we will play far more difficult teams than Hartlepool.

Smith is our plan B, in the same way we used M Harrrold.
Hopefully Wellens has explained this to Smith and he is onboard with it. He will get 35+ appearances mainly from the bench.
I hope he stays and scores some vital goals when the chips are down
