Does the booster actually stop infection? I know more people with Covid now than at any time since start of Pandemic, and they have all had booster

I don't think so but it makes you less likely to be hospitalised and die.

Me. I had mine scheduled for last Friday before I caught the rona at the Crawley game.
Got to wait 4 weeks now, so will try and get it at the end of Jan.

Wonder if the mass booster campaign might save Boris despite everything given how effective it's been. Like the initial vaccination program gave him a boost (pun intended)

Along with him saying he could have reimposed restrictions at/around Christmas time but didn't and that was great leadership because they weren't necessary.

That all depends on if hospitalizations and deaths rise. If they shoot up then he is in the ××××

Why would you want to. It is doubling every 2 days and by the end of December it will be the dominant variant. The half baked restrictions are not doing anything to slow it’s progress and all evidence points to it being no more threatening than a cold. No deaths have been attributed to this variant.
Instead of acting on the result of the problem , as we always do , we should be sharpening our efforts along with WHO to attack the cause. We should be insisting on countries achieving 80% vaccination and placing restrictions on those that don’t. Until this happens , we may be dealing with variants for years and others may be more destructive than this one.

32 deaths and 324 hospitalisations in the last two days

Currywurst. You continue with your childish digs without bringing any evidence to the table that I was wrong. Death rates have not risen. Come back again if they do.

Don't know about the booster but found this

With the delta variant, vaccine
effectiveness against infection has been estimated at around 65% with Vaxzevria(AZ) and 80% with Comirnaty (Pfizer)

Genuine question that I’m confused about. We are being told to get a booster (I.e. third shot) to boost immunity but other countries like Israel and potentially Germany are saying the same thing about immunity but that you will need a 4th shot. Is it just a timing thing I.e. people in those countries got their 3rd shot long enough ago that immunity might have worn off? A clash in the science?

I’m just watching the news about the new covid restrictions. I was wondering if whether we can still go to the home games against Newport and Bristol Rovers .?

Listening to the radio last week a Doctor from South Africa said it seems a very mild form of the illness. I can’t help thinking the government is panicking needlessly

Why be cautious? Only millions of lives at stake.

We’re finished then. Covid is here for life and will always mutate. We can now look forward to a 4th , 5th , 6th jab etc, and lockdowns forever.

We should base our policies on the word of one doctor instead of being cautious and waiting for data?

No , not just one doctor, she is one of many . Data is also implying that it’s a mild illness .
