Look at the other two options he had... Coleman and Brown who were even further away from looking first team ready.Gary the Plumber wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 3:21 pm RW consistently picked him - in fact, wasn't it RW who stuck him back in his preferred CDM position rather than the CAM role he isn't suited for?
Hector has just turned 21 and is still developing. He was never going to be the main man.
You hit the nail on the head in the last paragraph, a youth player was being asked to carry the midfield. Just shows how poorly we recruited in that area in terms of squad balance.

Fair point on Colebrown, Although he could have put Pratley there if he didn’t rate Hector.gshaw wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 5:56 pmLook at the other two options he had... We’re in agreement that the problem wasn’t Hector, it was Hector being asked to do more than he was ready to do just yet. That won’t be the case at Posh,

Win win then ? If he’s sh*t for them which he will be as he can’t score can’t assist can’t head the ball and always late into tackles then it’s a good sell , if he’s as good as you think he is will get a nice amount on the sell on. Didn’t think much of Abrahams. I did think Dalby was a prospect but that was different - he was 17 and played just half a dozen games. Kyp has a couple of seasons under his belt now.

We don't need a Dawson or Vincelot. We need a creative midfielder with an eye for goal to compliment what we have. If we are after Moncur he is a deadball specialist who can pass the ball...............something we haven't had for a few seasons.

RW has said he wants the 1 CDM holding/picking the ball up and moving it on, and of the 2 ahead of him, 1 to have the energy to get up and down and 1 with the flair.
We have Pratley and Clay for the energy role, we have Smyth (and Young) as the flair player, and we have Coleman and Brown holding. I'd say the CDM role is the most crucial to replace.

Re: Hector
I like Hector, he was improving. If it had been £30k transfer fee I'd have been disappointed to see him move on. £300k plus 20% sell-on is very good and can be used best where RW/ML see fit.

You couldn’t of been a fan when they played.
