from what i've heard ross doesn't want the job {don't know how true that is tho). if it's from the current set up then danny is my choice with ross assistant and jobi coaching. Slade would be the only feasible outside candidate due to his history here and man management. wont happen tho

I would be genuinely disappointed if it was him.
He wasn't much cop at Charlton either, the fans were taking the p**s out of the way they played under him. Move on, his last three attempts at being a manager have been a disaster.

Lampard and Gerrard have played consistently at the top level. Lampard has won multiple premier league titles, both have won the European cup and both have won domestic cups. Both have worked under great managers.

Jobi McAnuff. Journeyman who won the vanarama and once swapped shirts with Messi.

I would love it to be Jobi but he's been showing all the signs of wanting to do media work. UEFA 'A' regarded as the minimum qualification for the pro game- might even be an EFL requirement if memory serves.

Lucky7 wrote: Tue Jun 18, 2019 6:15 pm Well I ask myself if Slade is so damn good why is he still frecking jobless
Probably because he got massive payoffs from other clubs and don’t need to rush back into football. His bank balance means he can take a year out and be choosy when to come back
''he can ( afford ) to take a year out'' .......Heck no, the years he has been in the game plus the pay offs, I am guessing he could retire completely if he so chose to !! Russell Slade is going to be 59 years old by October this year, no money problems, does not really need the stress of a Managers job again I suppose and looking at his record over the last few years, its quite poor really !! So has he still got the drive and buzz to start all over again ? Being a football manager is a lot to do with having the drive to inspire and motivate your players, Laid back Slade or a very motivated young manager in Danny Webb who might well ruffle a few feathers ? I just dont know but tomorrow by this time of the day.......the guessing game will all be over !!

Jobi has played at the top level and spent most his career in the Championship (and won promotion from there several times) . Massively insulting to call him a journeyman and he’d also be going into management at a lower level than Gerrard or Lampard

If it was an external candidate coming in alongside the same coaching set up Justin worked with, I think it much more likely to be Daryl McMahon then anyone else.

One of Ling's boys and has a decent record in non league.

Not a terrible shout, that.

My hunch is Webb as manager with Embleton continuing as assistant and Jobi joining the coaching staff.

This, seconded. All the team talk has to be is 'let's do it for Justin'. That should be enough for the lads.
I agree, but Ross is no manager. Would be a bad move.
I don’t normally agree with you MungO 😋 but this is spot on
Cheers Lucky. You seem to agree more than you are aware of.

Swerving a bit more back on track than the last few posts - I can't help thinking that the folk suggesting Slade are (perhaps subconsciously) thinking about themselves rather than the players & coaches.

Yes, for a lot of fans he's familiar, safe, a comfort blanket.

But he left in 2014. Since then, nearly all the coaching staff have changed. And nearly all the players have changed.

He's not going to feel safe & familiar to them. And his career path is very different to JE's, to put it mildly - that could count against him with some players. So why is he any better a candidate than any other good man-manager?

Oh, and also - he didn't much like working under a DOF, remember!

Can’t see it happening but would love Andy Edwards back. Think he’d bridge the gap well between not being too closely involved with the tragedy of Justin’s death but also still not being a total outsider, as he’s already coached the likes of Judd, Koroma and Ling from a young age. He impressed me during his couple of brief spells in charge before and must have impressed others to get a role within the F.A.
