Good luck to the players ,they can do whatever they want to do , you can protest or not ,it's called democracy but don't force people to do something they don't want to . Didn't Zaha refuse to take the knee a few weeks back .

Re: no taking the knee today
Having listened to Hector following the LV abuse, it seems there is room for different views on the impact of taking the knee. For me it’s about being tolerant to both sides. If players choose to, that’s fine, I respect that. However if they choose not to, then that is equally fine and a respectful thing.jamespevans wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 8:50 pm https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... nee-racism
“People might boo, and that’s why we’ll keep doing it. It’s bigger than us, it’s bigger than just football. It’s something we’re trying to tackle as individuals, as a team, as a league. I think it’s important you still do it, even if it is tough, even if it is uncomfortable.
“People saying, ‘I’m sick of it, I’m sick of hearing about it’ – well, we’re sick of getting abuse, of hearing things in the news. Footballers are sick of being racially abused. We want to remind you that there is a problem and it needs to be tackled, and that’s our way of helping and propelling it forward.”
Allow people the right to have their own positions without the criticism either way.

Telling people to do something they're uncomfortable with is OK now I seejamespevans wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 8:50 pm https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... nee-racism

Re: no taking the knee today
In that article she talks about what she reads in the news. When England lost in the final of the Euros, 2000 or so messages were racist out of many millions sent and of those, a hundred or so came from the U.K. Nobody is saying it’s not a hundred too many but a hundred people out of a population of 70 million and it was headlines for days on the BBC and in the papers. This country is racist and intolerant etc etc. No wonder the poor girl thinks like that. Back in the day we all rubbed along just fine for the most part (cue hotdogs posting something racist from the 70’s). My mates and I certainly never noticed the colour of people’s skin and took people as we found them but now it’s all we are supposed to think about. The likes of the BBC that espouse elements of critical race theory are just tying to divide the shiiit out of us and should be ashamed of themselves.

Re: no taking the knee today
Of course there's lots of room for differing opinions on this. But let's be totally clear about one thing: it is a false equivalence to compare booing the gesture, directly at the players while they are making it, making things up about Marxism, and ignoring the players' own explanations for taking the knee... with civil and reasonable criticisms of the change of heart expressed on a message board or on social media.

Just trying to move the debate on a little. I feel some people, naming no names, are fixated on the knee.

Re: no taking the knee today
The BBC doesn't espouse critical race theory FFS. It's political and news coverage is way too superficial to get even close to doing that. Critical race theory is the new cultural Marxism - a kind of deep state and media lefty bogeyman for people who read Spiked.Beradogs wrote: ↑Tue Oct 12, 2021 6:50 am In that article she talks about what she reads in the news. Re: no taking the knee today
a minor issue perhaps but those players who regard 'taking the knee' as ineffective are forced to do it in order to avoid a "some do and some don't" situation which would invite all manner of criticism from those who like to voice their opinions in an aggressive manner. Let the players decide and support their decision.

Re: no taking the knee today
If taking the knee is ineffective then doing it when you believe that to be true shouldn't really be an issue. It's not like it will defeat racism all by itself so those guys don't have to worry about getting blamed for its disappearance.Milano wrote: ↑Tue Oct 12, 2021 10:03 am a minor issue perhaps but those players who regard 'taking the knee' as ineffective are forced to do it in order to avoid a "some do and some don't" situation which would invite all manner of criticism from those who like to voice their opinions in an aggressive manner. People should be allowed to follow their own beliefs without criticism. Why simply follow the herd. The I in team is management bullshit.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Tue Oct 12, 2021 10:28 amIf taking the knee is ineffective then doing it when you believe that to be true shouldn't really be an issue. If you are the only vegetarian in the team, should you eat meat just to fit in. Of course not. There is space within any team to cater for individual differences. Tolerance and understanding. That is how you help build a strong team, not forcing someone to go against their beliefs.

Taking the knee is a passing fad, this time next year the players will be throwing boomerangs into the crowd to show their support for oppressed aborigines.

Isn't the whole point of a boomerang that you use it as a weapon to hit an animal or person. Not that it comes back to you. That is an urban myth.PutneyO wrote: ↑Tue Oct 12, 2021 3:31 pmIt wouldn’t be funny if the boomerangs came back and knocked them out

This time next year it will nearly be the World Cup and you can bet that there will be no protests from the players in Qatar.
