He “gets done” apparently
Yeah, he gets done. But there’s no pressure from the midfield on the player on the ball and no support from the centre half inside.
Juddy still gains ground on the bloke with every step and is about to challenge him, that’s why he let go with that speculative shot from 20+ yards out.
I used to play with Loachs old man, he used to dive over shots like that as well.
Massive difference in getting done on the halfway line and recovering to what happens at Orient every week
Totally.
I know it was only 12 minutes of highlights, and most of that was Barnet getting run ragged by Torquay, but even from that you can exactly what Flowers has seen in the kid and why he wants him. Energy, enthusiasm, wanting the ball, desire to get back in, even puts over a killer cross that they should have scored from.
And from a boy that’s played what, 180 minutes of football this season? Scandalous that he’s been turfed out.
Are you blaming him for that first goal in those highlights?

Did you like the bit where the commentator said he got caught out of position
9 minuts on nust before goal number 2 .
Other Barnet defenders having to deal with his mistakes .
In Non League
Dont think he can cut it in League 2 .
Probably why he looks decent on the ball
Its non league , right level .

This is really weird.
You seem to be taking delight in an Orient player making a mistake (which he himself had rectified by showing some actual desire).

Strange way of sticking up for Sam Ling. Obviously struggles to find any redeeming quality to Sam Ling’s performances to have a reasoned debate as to why he should be playing every week. Seems to think the people who don’t rate Ling think Judd is the greatest RB in the world. Completely obsessed with the poor kid.

Tuffers, there is a massive correlation in your ability to understand football and your ability to spell and use the correct grammar.

The fact that Sam Ling is being picked purely because of his fathers influence must have a negative effect on the squad.

We've made 4 signings in January, some in positions that we're pretty well stocked in. Obviously there is a budget available. The guy is completely inadequate for this level unfortunately and it's a really bad look for the club to pretend otherwise. I don't believe they can't find someone of a higher quality and it's very difficult to believe they wouldn't try to find someone better if the player in question wasn't the son of the director of football.
The only thing I can think of is not wanting to phase too many new players into the squad/team at once and so they'll get to sorting the right back position in the summer. I think they're doing that with the left back position too, with a succession plan for Ogie to be given an opportunity.
Come on, I’m sure there’s some other possible reason you can think of if you try really hard.
Disagree with left back too - Brophy is rightly our first choice and good enough to play that position in a promotion winning side (IMO).
The whole "Ling is only playing cos his dad is the director of football thing" is just too obvious to be the case though, innit, even if you ignore the fact/don't want to believe that time and again it's been said that Martin has no interest or influence in picking the team. I hardly think a club that is as transparent and open as ours is under current ownership will think they can get away with something like that, that it would be deemed acceptable to play someone because of their dad or that they think they can pull the wool over our eyes by denying it. There is greater scrutiny because he is the son of a senior staff member, though that's exactly the reason we shouldn't have signed him in the first place (and Ling senior also agrees he didn't think it was a good move for Sam at the time) as it creates situations like this.
At least some of this scrutiny is flawed though. Take last weekend's game. So many people were adamant that the goals were Ling's fault at the time and slating only him in the match thread. Same with the game before. Yet the highlights showed several other players who were unmentioned when it came to responsibility until the highlights were out and people could judge objectively. Let's face it, if video evidence in the highlights of goals is also implicating other players then presumably the same thing will be happening in at least some of these other amazingly good opposition chances where they definitely should have scored and we were lucky that they didn't that are apparently down to Ling. Yet when similar chances fall for us they tend to be downplayed as only a half chance or goals put down to luck on our part.
Really hoping we do move on from Samling this summer as we need to upgrade (and will be able to significantly), but can't help think that even if he was playing at a similar level to other players then he'd still be seen to only be playing because of his dad.

He'll end up playing centre back and the reason given to that will be because Samling is the DOF's son
