I would be more concerned if there is a random draw (according to the website) or not (according to Danny M). It isn't clear which one of these club messages is correct.
It might be a random draw, but those who come out the first time won't be in the next draw.

Why would you be concerned either way?

If 1000 fans are allowed in, then with >1000 season ticket holders, there needs to be some method of selection
Well simply because a random draw is, well, random. Some people may see several matches, some may see none.

I expect, and this is what Danny M seems to be saying, that there will be a process by which the people who see match 1 will not qualify to see match 2, etc. In reality, I imagine the club will put all of the applicants into a spreadsheet, sort it randomly, and pick the first n people for match 1, the second n for match 2 and so on. That would seem to be the easiest and fairest way.

I'm sure that is what will happen - it's just odd that the message on the website suggests a much more random allocation. We're getting two different messages. And being a bloke, my brain can't deal with it.

They will have to group the fans as well. No point in a young child getting a ticket when his parents and siblings don’t. Could get complicated...

Maybe that is why we were asked to name a group we are in, so they could work it out.

Yes. Also groups will get relocated. Most likely into the east stand as it has most spare space. Just hope you don’t get the seats covered in bird sh!t and it doesn’t rain.

Quite frankly who would want to go under the current restrictions anyway ticket or not, I know I wouldn't. The experience will be awful. Supporters club won't be open, no facilities. It will be basically get there at a certain pre arranged staggered time watch game, no atmosphere. will be like watching park football then leave at staggered times and vacate the area straight away.

Think I'll wait until we're back to pre covid times again thanks. Quite happily go without for another 12 months, not worth the agg.

Agree. Lot of the reason I go is to catch up with friends and family and have a few beers after tha game. Would be nice to go out again after 6 months of doing nothing, but it would have to have some semblance of normality.

How many season tickets holders are there this season? A thousand seems to be the number for the pilot, but might be up to 25% capacity from October, which is around 2,300. And with phantom kids and those who need to shield possibly no one need miss out...

... well except RedO and me.
Pretty sure the club have announced somewhere around 3,500 - 3,700 season ticket holders before they stopped taking applications.

So if 1,000 are allowed in, you’re looking at getting to 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 games.

Why not?

With away supporters not being allowed in, they could sell those off to us. You could easily get 100 to 200 socially distanced fans in there, say £25 a go, that’s another £5k to £10k for the club.

Well because the deal has always been, when there is limited availability, that ST holders get priority - plus there is the added Covid traceability benefit from having known identifiable attendees over walk-ins.

Totally agree. Also not bothered about attending games and what with the journey up from Colchester on a train, wearing a mask - no thanks.

I’m not saying pay on the day ffs.

You’d still have to book through the club in advance so they would have details. £10k per game, that’s £230k over the season. The club can’t refuse that sort of dosh.

Indeed, it has to while there are restrictions on total numbers in the ground lower than the 3.300 or so season card holders. No way will the club prevent season card holders attending over non-season card holders, especially given the added admin for selling tickets, getting contact information etc.

Online bookings only, you leave all your details there anyway. Just need to send out the 200 tickets, so at max that’s 200 stamps to lick - hardly admin overload.

And as my sums above show, it’d net a further £200k for the season. I don’t think any fan would object to that sort of cash inflow in these unprecedented times.

He's waiting for someone to get their finger out and start supplying content. We do have a title for the first episode though, it's called "Women, Children, and Podcasts First"

Not quite remember the Charlton cup tie ( i didn't get a ticket and am season ticket holder) where they put the tickets on general sale before offering them to season ticket holders. I spoke to my mate whose a solicitor and people could have sued the club over that. The following season is the only time I've not had one in 25 years.

People are pretty confident the club will reward loyal ST holders by not letting non ST's in before them. At the same time, the club is charging ST holders more more for a stream than non-ST holders. Its not about loyalty, its about money, rightly or wrongly.

I've no objection if the club whack the price up to £25 or even £30 for non-season ticket holders. Possibly even higher if they really want to.

These are desperate times and you can't blame them in the current environment, they've got to do whatever it takes to keep the club afloat.

Non season ticket holders SHOULD NOT be allowed in before SEASON CARD HOLDERS.

End of Story .

They have committed to the club when it needed & therefore should be rewarded
I unfortunately couldnt commit & accept i w8ll not be allowed to get in in front of
those who could .

If you cant organise your finances to make sure you have £300 quid for the O's
Then you obviously are prioritising something else over them .

You have to accept it , harsh as it may seem to you .

Just pay the £10 quid & be done with it .
