Paid £11 for it, put seats in from a scrapper, got body shop to paint it up and tidy body work. Sunroof had a winding handle mechanism with pull knobs on dash. First time i drove it was a lesson with my dad, we pulled up near allotments close to the Orient. The heavens opened up pi.sing down with rain and dad said "Put the Wipers on", i did and they both fell off lol!!
Absoloutely loved that car🚗😁 great memories.
I had a Triumph Herald white had red leather seats with 9000miles on clock pristine condition paid £110 for it in 1979. Only had it one year was driving to Felixstowe, wheel bearings went just before Colchester, no recovery for me then so had to sell it to the garage I pulled into for £100 and get a lift back to London, remember it had a swing cable accelerator.

Bought a Vauxhall Victor second hand in Hackney in 1969. Bench seat and column change. Button on the floor for headlights on or off. In yellow which apparently is the safest colour for a car.

Fiat Regata 85S. 1.5 Auto IIrc, 1985

It was not great, and I was clueless with fixing cars then. I believe there about 3 left in the UK. Read into that what you will

An 08 Suzuki Swift that I bought off an old Christian guy in his 70s with the stereo working on one side of the car and the odd knock on the bumpers - nicknamed "Amy" as it was the same burnt orange colour as the fake tan a girl from my office used to wear.

Had it 2 weeks and got it serviced, including a new oil filter which blew up 6 miles later when I revved it a bit too much. Engine seized and the garage reimbursed me all I spent on it to then buy another car the day after. Happy days.
