You could have a programme seller up there with Embleton next season ranting and waving his arms about and there would be no difference between him and Senda. Another missed opportunity and pointless move. If it is an attempt at ‘positive discrimination’ to get BAME representation , which I do not think it is, this would make it even more ridiculous. The club has BAME representation surely ? BAME must apply to the team and entire ground staff as well? We need coaching staff appointed for their ability to progress the team not based on their ethnic origin. It is all done and dusted now. I cannot feel positive about this appointment I am sad to say.

After binning off Reece Ottley and Emma Baughurst (who had been at the club for 5 years) the other week and saying “but in the current economic climate I’ve had to reduce numbers of staff". He's now hired a bloke we didn't actually need. Absolutely shocking.

So Danny Webb wasnt needed after all? The assistant post should just be scrapped?

My Brother-in-law coached under 16s football for 20+ years, Massive experience. don’t mean he could step up and offer much at L2 level. Seem to recall Fletcher had experience lower down. That turned our well.

Experience counts, but it needs to be the right experience. Our top two have a handful of EFL league games experience between them. It’s frankly nonsense to suggest Ross could not benefit from the advice of a seasoned, experienced assistant. But having a strong, decent assistant puts pressure on Ross too and makes it far to easy to replace him quickly. Always going to be an inexperienced assistant. Ling protecting his boy Ross.

Just because that worked 100 years ago, doesnt mean it would work now.

Not aware I was suggesting that Ross wouldn’t benefit from the advice of a seasoned, experienced assistant . It could be argued that Senda has actually stepped down - in terms of wider responsibility - from his HC role at Barnet to be an assistant here. Personally, I remain unconvinced that this additional supporting role was necessary but an individual who has been coaching footballers at professional level for over seven years can’t be regarded as a complete beginner imho. I also wonder if Senda had spent his previous seven years coaching the Academy, Under 18’s and first teamers at the O’s instead of at Brentford and Barnet his appointment would be considered part of a natural progression - in the same way as Nugent, Edwards, Webb, Embleton have in the recent past?

Do you mean 'lower down' in age groups? Fletcher was with Bournemouth's 18s and 23s I believe. He also captained his country. And played in the Premier League. And managed Plymouth. Was your brother in law an Academy Under 16 coach for 20 years? Which is kind of relevant to be fair. But I'm guessing you mean Sunday League kids football which, as you know, makes your point just silly really.

It's not really right to call people out for nonsense and then post this sort of thing.
