There are some people who are decent have happy memories and are financially fortunate to be able to assist others. Whether that be charities a football club or in this case, both.

I was under the impression the manufacturer paid a lump sum to the club then took the lions share from the sales

Don't know the Orient deal, but up here, Rovers and the manufacturer design the kit. Rovers buy the shirts from the manufacturer at cost price - subject to minimum number orders per size - at wholesale price. The manufacturer gets the profit between the wholesale price and the actual cost of production. Rovers sell the kit at selling price, gaining any profit on the deal.
Just like any other retail item. Why would a football shirt be any different?

I wonder if Mind would rather have had a donation of £100k or their name on the front of our 3rd choice kit (which were unlikely to wear), if given the choice?

Re: New kits revealed at 4pm
Tbf he's said it helps the football club AND the charities. Appreciate it's in a smaller way as far as the charities go (i.e. publicity on the shirts, small donation from shirt sales and corporate hospitality for their staff) but it has still helped. You're right to say the main beneficiaries are the club though.RedO wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 3:58 pmYou say he’s helped the charities but thinking about it, he’s only really helped our multi millionaire investors.AckneyAwks wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 10:11 am No begging letters need to be involved, i did not realised the O's had begged Harry kane to sponsor us Max.

I'd be interested in finding out exactly how much from each shirt is going to the charity as the wording was vague (referring to the proceeds), i.e. Is it 10% of the £48 selling price, or is it 10% of the profit on each shirt.

That is the big question. Presuming it’s an all white kit. Let’s hope the braces are on the shorts.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 11:42 pmDoes the braces go down onto the shorts like the original kits did . ? I'll definitely buying a couple of the braces shirt .

Predictable response. A good thing gets done for the club, for the charity and you want to find a way to find fault with it.RedO wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 3:58 pmYou say he’s helped the charities but thinking about it, he’s only really helped our multi millionaire investors.AckneyAwks wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 10:11 am No begging letters need to be involved, i did not realised the O's had begged Harry kane to sponsor us Max.

Re: New kits revealed at 4pm
I'd imagine there's different deals depending on where shirts are sold.
Those sold at in sports shops up and down the country - depicting the Club's colours and badge - are bound to be treated differently to those supplied to the club to sell in their own shop
I'd imagine LOFC sells the majority of the shirts itself (either onsite or mail order), whereas EPL clubs are probably not directly involved in the majority of their shirt sale transactions in the UK and around the world.
