I await to be surprised.

Nope, turned it down.
Couldn’t join a club that can’t afford to fix a leaky roof.

Interesting that a couple of people habe said we can't afford to take chances. Surely for the first time in a long time we actually can to an extent. With only one relegation spot which we are already fairly well clear of and not too much pressure about promotion this season, the new gaffer will have a chance to build rather than get instant results.

This will be the first appointment where the club is in a good position for decades.

Russell slade is now manager of my local club and would take him all day over Carl Fletcher. This will be a shocking appointment if true.

You're probably right but at least its not Adams.

He must have given one hell of an interview to beat off some of the other names mentioned.

Or perhaps the lack of flexibility of assistant and DoF put other people off.

It is quite interesting that Teague said on Twitter that his projected points for 13 games was 19-20 and therefore he was a little disappointed with Ross (he must have been fuming after 11 games when we had 10 points).

That equates something like 71 points over a whole season. If the expectations are the same for Fletcher (and perhaps increase a tad next year) he is really up against it, IMO.

yes, beating off the guys probably clinched it.

If Carl Fetcher is the best of the 40 that applied, the other 39 must have been awful.
24.3 % win ratio is rubbish !
Or wonder if it could be that all the best ones insisted on bringing in their own choice assistant manager ?

1.5 points per game required using Kent's figures.

Carl Fletcher's current record stands at 1.1 points per game.

Ross is on 1.23 at the moment.

Wouldn't have known who he was and still don't.
Did he ever play against us?

So Teague has said the appointment will take a lot of fans by surprise – true.

Ling has apparently said that most people will be pleased with the new managerial appointment – speaking for myself, I think he over-rates my ability to know who Carl Fletcher is and how good he is, for based on his record it’s difficult to be full of confidence, but fingers crossed and I wish him well.

Carl Fletcher was managing Plymouth when they were an absolute basket case and heading out of the football league. It was considered a remarkable achievement that he kept them up that season.

The club hasn't made an appointment in such a settled and good place for decades. Comfortably in mid table, healthy behind the scenes, a decent squad, a happy club in many ways. If there was ever a time to take a bit of a leap of faith, now would be the time. The club may see it that he has a higher ceiling than some other more experienced candidates, and given the points I raised earlier, they might see now as an opportunity to give someone like this a chance.

Whoever comes in will be a risk, experienced or not. No guarantees

But it’s exactly why we need to take the opportunity to appoint an experienced person who is more likely to be able to take on the building process without too much to worry about this season. Don’t fancy us becoming a training ground for an inexperienced person. Will be interesting when the announcement is made. Whoever it is I wish him all the luck going.

This is being reported all over the place, around the Bournemouth area...local press etc

As has been said, very disappointing, when you think of the choice.

The club continue to disappoint me......this cannot go on
