I'm very pleased with the 3 points but I have to agree Blackpool did look the better side . In my opinion their number 11 , Josh Bowyer looked the best player on the pitch . Does anybody know why every time Bowyer touched the ball our fans were booing him . I'm just curious, do we have any history with this player .Also I think the way we were set up today made us harder to break down but somewhat nullified our attacking threat . We've played better this season at home and lost so all I care about is we won . Also I thought Akhamrich and Kabia looked poor today and didn't really influence the game . However I thought Dobra and Wellens looked good when they came on .
Agree, thought he looked up for it, and seemed much more comfortable getting forward than Fin was on the other side.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2026 9:07 pmThought Morris was back to almost his best today. I agree. Great to see him back in the fold, and playing like we saw him last season.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2026 9:07 pmThought Morris was back to almost his best today. If that's how you saw it fine, we saw it differently. Connolly was wide in the first half Yusuf was too to start with but ineffective and got pulled inside midway through the first half, Yusuf and Connolly are never going to double up with our full backs no matter what the formation.Hoover Attack wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2026 8:14 pmWrong analysis.Top of the JES wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2026 4:03 pm Playing "wing backs" and two wide players in front of them does not work, it just leaves a lack of bodies and a hole in central midfield. Blackpool have put in two or three great crosses and we are surviving at the moment.
We played with wing backs, both Yusuf and Alan played narrow. Those crosses came in because they were overloading the wide areas (because we didn't have wingers supporting the wing backs).
We did at least try to put Yusuf out wide by inverting Stevens after a bit in the first half.

I'll say one thing for you Hoover , you're bloody consistent . In fact when Charlie came on I thought he improved us and made us more of an attacking threat.Hoover Attack wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2026 8:09 pm Great result, awful performance. Outstanding shift from the defensive unit, Forrester and Stevens the pick of the bunch yet again.
Literally no idea how Competition Winner got on the bench and got some minutes once more. Laughable contribution from him yet again. Can you imagine being Clare or Theo or Mitchell or Oyekunle or (is that it?) stuck at home for that?![]()
Totally agree thought Blackpool were 2nd bestThe Reverend wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2026 9:01 pm Am I the only one who thought Blackpool were a bit naff? They could have played for 3 more hours and not scored.
Their corners were especially bad.
All in all a pretty poor match. A win is a win but we saw two teams who will be lucky to hit mid-table this season.
No, it’s not opinion, it’s fact. We started with Yusef and Aaron as two tens, playing narrow behind Kabia. Yusef basically didn’t touch the ball for the first twenty mins and went wide where he got a bit more of the ball albeit being doubled up on and shown outside. Connolly drifted wider a few times but stayed relatively central.Top of the JES wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2026 9:24 pmIf that's how you saw it fine, we saw it differently. Wrong analysis.

Well have to agree to disagree on that thenTop of the JES wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2026 9:24 pmIf that's how you saw it fine, we saw it differently. I remember him doing one bit of skill where he kind of beat a player but then lost the ball to a second player ( and Iddy had to pick up a yellow to stop them breaking on transition) but other than that, can’t remember one positive thing in possession.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2026 9:40 pmI'll say one thing for you Hoover , you're bloody consistent . More 5-2-2-1. But who cares, it didn't really work for us.Red_Army wrote: Sun Oct 18, 2026 12:41 pm I actually think you're all wrong in terms of the formation. It looked to me like it was a 5 2 1 2, with Connolly and Kabia through the middle and Akhamrich as a 10. Connolly drifted wide left and Akhamrich wide right.
Like most of our performances this season ( and last if you like), awful and not pretty to watch. Makes you wonder where we are supposed to be going.Hoover Attack wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2026 8:09 pm Great result, awful performance. For their goal kicks we set up as you’re suggesting to stop them playing outRed_Army wrote: Sun Oct 18, 2026 12:41 pm I actually think you're all wrong in terms of the formation.
