Names that feature in running for Orient job are also linked with Wrexham role now

HITC Sport has made up something to put on their website, based purely on speculation on the Orient messageboard that Martin Allen, Graham Westley and Daryl McMahon are contenders for the Leyton Orient job.

The medal winner?
Corrected that for you
A big no thank you to all three of those names
Underwhelming. Daryl's the only one I would consider, but he's not available.

But is he not available. With contract clauses these days being with another club don’t count for much. His contract may well permit him the opportunity to go.
I wonder if managers experienced at a higher level will be interested, given manager turnover rates other better opportunities are bound to arise. With McMahon, he has decent experience as a lower league manager and would see Orient as a step up. He has the likely background for the sort of guy we will employ and less likely to be fussed at having to work with the existing back room team.
Ticks the boxes.

Frankly, if there is any truth in the suggestion that Nugent, Allen and Westley are genuine candidates for the job then Ling should ask Embleton to reconsider his decision!

It will be interesting up in the Olympic lounge tomorrow, to see how many ex players or prospective managers are putting themselves about. There will no doubt be reports of sightings from 5pm tomorrow on here.

Not too many games in the Leauge, mostly non-league.
But I wonder if we could attract a - let’s say - high profile manager. One willing to work under a DoF. The relationship with Ling will be a key factor and some names mentioned may feel it would diminish their power. Maybe feel they are bigger fish than Ling to start with.
We saw that with Russ with us and again with Charlton where at his appointment TV interview he seemed uncomfortable, stressing his role as being in charge despite the club giving him a list of players to choose from.
Ling has a tough job. Finding someone he can gel with as well as the Board, backroom staff, players and fans. Not an easy task.
Those relationships may be easier to cultivate with a young manager wanting to move up, willing to be more flexible.

Nor me, he has not proved himself at all, in fact didn't he get the tin tack at ebbsfleet? Hardly a quality manager if that's true, unless we are stooping that low now?
Show some ambition and get a quality person in.
I bet we get someone who is friends with Ling.

If Ling brings in somebody he knows and who has the appropriate qualities I see nothing wrong with that.

True not arguing with that, just saying we might want to look at his network to see who his mates with.

Of course. It’s a sensible place to start the search. I have little doubt he knows many people. I wonder if he has crossed paths with McMahon before?

Someone in the mould of Nathan Jones (the Luton version) for me. However the new rival does it, like Jones, or Potter , or Slade back in the day, or JE recently - I'm looking for someone to back and trust because the players back and trust him. That's when we get that extra few % that makes us a good side. I can't see many of the names mentioned on various threads thus far ticking that box - so I'm happy for a "left field" appointment.

I was thinking this today
But some applicants will not want it known they were applicants - if they do not get chosen because it may harm their ongoing job prospects
Its never stopped them before, either here or at any other club.

We need someone that will not be influenced by Martin Ling and makes the team choices purely on his own !

Stephan Constantine has absolutely no proven managerial experience in our Division.
Whilst he was first team coach at Millwall for the 2005/2006 season they were relegated at the end of the season.
I can’t believe the owners would be so negligent as to appoint him .
He’s a great manager who gets the best out of players who want to improve.
He was always on a hiding to nothing at Millwall with various factors impacting on the work he was trying to do.
His record at international level is amazing and I see no reason why he can’t continue that at club level.

I keep hearing Nugent being mentioned, a real old boys' club appointment by Ling should it come to pass.
