Remember Aberdeen were not the
only club to challenge the old firm .
Dundee united won the SPL so his
Scottish achievments were not so remarkable.
Hearts missed out 1 year after leading from the 1st game to the last but blew the final game .

Ferguson went to Ireland to meet the most successful manager in sport at the current time a few years to learn from him

The legend that is Brain Cody .

He won the European cup a few times with teams that had the financial backing of shirt buttons compared to what he beat in the cup plus the English teams he beat to even qualify
Brian Cody is the Kilkenny Hurling manager. We will see how good is he on Sunday.

Graeme Souness who won 5 league titles & 3 European Cups said something similar in 1 of the documentaries on Cloughie.

Asked the question about taking a small midlands team to the heights of league champions & twice European champions , he would be hard pushed to disagree cloughie wasnt 1 of if not the best.
You can say he's one of the best, but better than Ferguson? Do me a favour.
Reading above I see Clough is spoken of re 1 team, he done it with 2 teams,
Something Ferguson has not done so no fluke,
Clough never had a quarter of the money Fergies had to spend,
So you what you know about football,
I can fit onto my fingernail

Did Clough's Forest not sign the first £1M player? (Well £999,999)

Wait until Sunday ?

Cody took over in 1998
In 2000 he won his 1st all Ireland with the cats
His 1st of 11 all irelands won, so 1 every other year since.

NEVER underestimate any team Cody is in charge of.
They may not win but you will have to play the best you ever have had to , to beat them.

This is from a Fan of the Rebels & definitely not the Cats.

Back to clough

2 league titles with Derby
& a European cup semi final
Which they lost because leeds
kicked them off the pitch the saturday before .

His biggest achievement though is obviously winning the Anglo Scottish cup against the Mighty O's

He did but his rise to fame came from shrewd buys for not even a tenth of that,
Taylor found the players & brian wouldn't leave a players house till he signed,
He was a mad genius.

Again..
Statistically very few became great managers, as also great managers were not deemed great players,
Wenger wasn't a n exceptional player.

Mourinho played Professional Football in Portugal
For Rio Ave & a couple of other smaller sides.

He never scored as many goals as Clough.

That is the thing that sets Cloughie out for me.

A Fantastic Player & a Fantastic manager.

Best of all time ?
He's up there anyway

Jose translated somewhat inaccurately :-) Apparently whatever Bobby Robson said he would embellish with his own thoughts and opinions

He was always big headed.

His Dad was a professional & won a cap for Portugal
Signed for his Dads team ( Rio) & then played for a couple of small clubs.

Started his coaching career at Vitoria Setabul
as a youth coach, next job was assistant manager at
A club something amadora .
He then worked for Robson.

Trevor Franicis was 1 player Forest splashed cash on.

Ferguson joined unuted 10 years after that event
And you are comparing Ckough with Fergie.

Shilton good player when bought.
Frank Clarke 30 + has been that no one wanted
Larry Lloyd has been no one wanted
Kenny Burns passed it as a striker
Became a major player.
Wtf was John Mcgovern
Wtf was John O hare
Gemmell was a gem but not that good
Woodcock was youth team
Birtles was youth team
Robertson was Fat
Martin oneil youth
Ian bowyer a strange win
Played for man city came to us
ended up as a champion

Only shilton & Francis cost real money.

Ferguson spent & spent & spent & spent
Before his youth crop came good.

P.s Fergie & Clough were strikers & not defenders

So arguably the 2 best English football managers were goal scorers , not defenders.
