Is there a more well known Labour MP who has got nowhere near the shadow cabinet/cabinet?
SHE IS NOT WELL KNOWN OUTSIDE OF YOUR E17 IVORY TOWER BUBBLE.

I doubt taking your newborn child along to a NATO summit as a political stunt to show everyone how put upon you are would go down well diplomatically

I wonder sometimes whether the fact that Stella Creasy is female, makes her a sitting target for the likes of CEB. He does seem to over obsess with matters about gender.

Labour Councillor Ricky "Cut Throat" Jones, charged with violent disorder and held on remand until Sept 6th.

I actually have to put myself right on a point I was unsure of. She has held shadow cabinet positions before (from her wiki):
"
Creasy joined Labour's frontbench team in October 2011 as Shadow Minister for Crime Prevention.[20] She then served as Shadow Minister for Business, Innovation and Skills from October 2013 to September 2015."
With a CV like that, it's amazing that she flew under my radar

Good. Despite all the silly billies parroting the 'two-tier' nonsense, I haven't seen anyone actually defend this guy's actions.

He’s gone not guilty so we’ll have to wait and see if calling people scum whose throats should be slit is incitement or not…..
If a jury finds him guilty I’d be surprised if it’s more than time served

Apparently…
1. Walthamstow is upmarket/wealthy now (well done)
2. There’s a petition against you getting a Gail’s Bakery because the owners are born in Israel

That's not the reason the petition was started, the article doesn't even claim it was. Come on.

“Links to Israel” is literally in the headline and knowing the chain the owners were born in Israel.
I assume the paywalled article gives other reasons

"Businesses in a wealthy neighbourhood in east London are protesting the opening of a Gail’s store in a “fight against gentrification” amid calls for a boycott over the chain’s links to Israel.
A petition, which has now been signed by hundreds of locals opposing the bakery chain’s presence in Walthamstow, claims its signatories are “protecting the unique identity of our community [and] safeguarding the soul of a beloved neighbourhood”.
However, business owners told The Times that the bulk of resistance against the store opening was due to the company’s part-owner and chairman, Luke Johnson, who has openly expressed pro-Brexit and anti-lockdown views, called climate activists “alarmists” and heavily criticised “wokeness” at universities."
LOL. I'm pretty sure the local luvvies will be quick enough to spend their money in Gail's should it open.

So its only misinformation from a company who have links to Israel?

I'm literally copying and pasting the headline and subheading:
"Why a wealthy neighbourhood is taking great pains to keep out Gail’s
A branch of the high-end coffee chain in leafy Walthamstow in east London has faced opposition over its co-owner’s views and fears for the village’s local businesses"
Can you show me where it says "links to Israel" in the headline?

“Amid calls for” is a cheap journalistic trick to imply that something happens because of something without evidence. So in this instance would be a way of unduly linking “residents don’t want a Gail’s cos of gentrification” to “calls for a boycott”.
Then all it takes is to find a local who happily says “the owner is a bit brexity is he? Yeah no then” and hey presto, there’s a story.

They’ve amended the headline on their official website from “co-owners views” ownwards… It initially read “links to Israel” after that.
They haven’t amended their X account yet. Appears to have been a clickbait angle

I think that resisting the influx of chain shops is something worthwhile. Character, identity etc are worth preserving. This does not attract comment because it does not sell newspapers.

My cheeky comment: is this about the twee businesses fearing for their profits because a bigger twee business is encroaching on what they thought was their territory?

And over industrialised interior design to stress how old school bakery it is while you’re forking out over £4 for a loaf of bread
