What a ridiculous and entitled post.PKM wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 9:08 am Difficult to know the thinking behind this move.
RW was highly critical of the two untested kids brought in in January.
He said we should be doing better, second loans etc.
And here we are doing it again. Unless there’s some underlying reason/rationale to it, it makes no sense at all.
Our forward line looks incredibly weak, we need three decent signings in.
This should not even count as a signing.
The club should explain this signing.

Re: Welcome Sonny Perkins
This is a really odd signing . If we brought him in as our player to develop yes a good move , but to use up a loan space for the whole season with a boy who hasn’t played in the league ?
RW said that first time loans with kids , like Edwards last season , rarely work . Mostly the physicality is a problem . It’s a Ling signing as he sold him years ago , but it’s a strange one, when we can’t afford a big squad and we always say we need better players coming in and not just number fillers . So who is he replacing ? Piggot or Ruel ?
We still need so
Many more players , we are way short

Re: Welcome Sonny Perkins
Perhaps it’s because we’re lumbered with last seasons panic signing Pigott , he won’t move on unless we pay up most of his contract, imv, so we’ve got to make cuts somewhere.
A kid with next to no league experience fits the bill perfectly.
RW’s three year contract and AM’s contract won’t be cheap, but well worth it if they can coach cheap no experience signings into L1 players.

Did you say the same when we signed O'Neill? How did that signing turn out?

O'Neill had also had a spell playing mens football, like Forde.
That reduces the risk in signing a youngster.

Re: Welcome Sonny Perkins
How does this signing fit in with the stated policy of buying in youngsters cheaply and developing them to sell on?
Clearly there’s a case for loans, as exemplified by the likes of El Miz, Shaq etc. But here we are developing someone else’s player , at a risk to ourselves and no real upside financially, beyond hoping the boy hits the ground running.
It’s worth noting Leeds recalled him from Oxford because he wasn’t getting enough game time. Presumably Leeds have received assurances from us that he will get enough game time.
It’s all indicative that this isn’t meant as a non first team signing.
It’s certainly a weird one given last seasons experiences.

No but it's a poor start off the back of losing our top goal scorer .BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 8:16 am Do you lot seriously think he is going to be our only signing this summer? f*cking hell.

If that's a case we can expect to be in a relegation dogfight this coming season .PKM wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 9:58 am Perhaps it’s because we’re lumbered with last seasons panic signing Pigott , he won’t move on unless we pay up most of his contract, imv, so we’ve got to make cuts somewhere.

He joined near the end of transfer window, so no pre-season and they changed managers 3 months later. Hardly set up for him to thrive.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 9:43 amNot by Oxford, he isn’t.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 9:28 am He’s a lot more highly regarded than the two we got in January too.

Re: Welcome Sonny Perkins
Good to see the usual whiners on here writing him off before they've :
A) ever seen him kick a ball
B) he's had the chance to even wear an Orient shirt.
I would expect no less.

You used no pre season as a reason for his failure at Oxford last season. That's nonsense.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 11:42 amDon’t be obtuse.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 11:35 amDo they not do pre-season in Leeds?BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 10:47 am

Change of manager may have had an impact, but he wasn't tearing up any trees under either (basing this purely on him not being picked to play).

Re: Welcome Sonny Perkins
Pre-season isn’t just about fitness. Those players had 2 months working on tactics, shape etc plus 5 matches in the league and cup before he was signed. He came into the club with no match fitness and was 2 months behind everyone else. Other players get into form and its virtually impossible to get any kind of run in the team.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 12:22 pmYou used no pre season as a reason for his failure at Oxford last season.
