Tactical masterclass last night when you think about it.

As Gareth said, it was a complex game where the Dutch changed their shape and style about 4 times during that second half and he responded. That's the crux of what people dont understand when they talk about good or bad managers. They see the team they've picked and how that team performs, not the technical elements that make or break a manager. We dominated the first half and then they stifled us. He changed it to ensure we didnt get beaten. Despite Lee Dixon bleating on about subs every game, he waited until the opportune moment to put not the right players at the right time and they combined to score the winner. Outstanding management.

The following are teams England have beaten, while managed by Southgate, in actual competitions (including Nations League):

Tunisia
Panama
Sweden
Iceland
Belgium
Croatia
Czech Republic
Germany
Ukraine
Denmark
Iran
Wales
Senegal
Serbia
Slovakia
Switzerland

You cant include the Nations league, they're friendlies. They've rebadged it you fool!

Still, that is not a great list of fallen opponents. I expect Orient could beat half of them.

Does it matter? We've beaten the teams in front of us when it mattered.

It's like Richie getting Orient to the premier league and moaning when we finish 5th because we didnt beat the top 4.

Outstanding management is playing attacking, exciting and winning football at all times.
For me negative, boing possession is not attractive to watch under any circumstances. Thats the the why although I desperately want England to win the Euros I refuse to watch a single match and that will include the Final.
