OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed

Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
It seems to me that despite calls for there to be formalised rules to be applied in the event of a game being abandoned, if that were the case - if there was actually a kind of flowchart or sliding scale or something where a weighting is given to the various factors like score at the time, amount of match played, seriousness of the event leading to abandonment etc - the authorities would still be criticised for not taking the heightened emotion into account and for treating sad events as simple “by the book” instances of applying the rules as written.

Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
If a game is forced to be abandoned to a proscribed set of circumstances, then it being completed the next day at the score and minutes played at the time of abandonment would be pretty straightforward and seems to be what they do elsewhere.

Fine, day after that. It's obviously doable as other countries do it.

Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
The EFL rules are clear that any abandoned game is replayed. One can argue whether the rule is fair, but difficult to argue against the actual decision. EFL rules also state that any cards in an abandoned game still stand, but for example Galbraith suspension doesn't count. Typical EFL having it both ways in their favour.redintheface wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 4:44 pmCorrectRedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 4:41 pmI would imagine they are all discounted along with Pigott’s goal now the original match is void

If only there was some way of finding out whether you are being criticised for your handling of something. Alas, it’s impossible to do so, and so you must remain confused. Though I suspect that as usual, you’ll mitigate the confusion by being like “huh, dunno what they are talking about. Can’t be bothered to look either. Therefore they've just made up something”

Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
Let's put all this in a proper perspective, if we were sitting in a cafe in Gaza watching Loose Women on TV, it wouldn't really bother us that the game had to be replayed.

Move on. The decision is the decision.
No matter what was decided somebody was not going to like it. I'm not sure some Lincoln fans relishing a trip back down; our club could be on a hiding to nothing on the financial side whilst neither side could be in trouble at either end of the table by the time its played.

When do Orient and Lincoln then prepare for their game 2 days later?Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 10:57 am Fine, day after that. It's obviously doable as other countries do it.
Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
Notice that Lincoln and ourselves played last Saturday, during the break for internationals. Does anyone know if there are any more Saturdays coming up? Might be an opportunity to place this fixture at home, on a Saturday afternoon.

Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
Don't know what happened there! Was asking if there would be more Saturdays coming up when internationals would mean another round of matches being postponed. Lincoln and ourselves played and, just a thought, providing our oppositions aren't playing we could replay on a Saturday afternoon.
Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
Sigh. My question was not intended as a literal bafflement at what someone was objecting to. It was demonstrating that the objections were based on wanting to be offended rather than with me having done anything substantively wrong.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 11:39 amIf only there was some way of finding out whether you are being criticised for your handling of something. Clue: the suggestion that the family should cover the costs of a replay was, obviously, ridiculing the heightened OTT extreme takes flying about, rather than me actually expressing a view. It was ridiculing the board, not a grieving family. Hope this helps. Now good luck googling Gareth Southgate x

Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
There is good chance that Port Vale away 18th November will be off due to them having International call ups. Unfortunately Lincoln play Stevenage that day, and I think that will go ahead, both teams played Saturday just gone. Also I suspect International squads wont get selected until near the weekends in question, giving little time for rearranged matches to get scheduled in at short notice.

It says they are valid in this thread. The Reverend wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 5:10 pm Don’t really agree with the decision myself but so be it. A more pertinent question now is what is the situation will be with ticketing. Original tickets valid for the replay you’d assume.

There wouldn’t be a free Saturday if both teams are out. L1&L2 teams have fixtures scheduled on all round weekends from R3.

Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
The Lincoln manager - Mark Kennedy has just been sacked, so when we play them again in a couple of weeks it'll probably be a different result, however I just cant thank those wonderful, amazing, beautiful kind, saint like people enough for running on the pitch and getting the game abandoned
