And what brilliant move by manager Sarina Wiegman to move Lauren Kemp from her club position an out an out left winger to play as a twin central striker alongside Alessia Russo who also scored and had an outstanding game.
Yes its going to be tough but at least we have got there now its all to play for !Top of the JES wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 1:07 pm For me Spain are the best team in the tournament so it’s going to be tough, but well done the Lionesses on a fantastic display today and a really professional job to date. A pleasure to watch.
Could definitely learn on the psychology side as the England women's team used to have a similar block to the men's when it came to getting past semi-finals.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 2:36 pm Perhaps Southgate could learn how to win things with a good squad of players like the women’s manager. Any chance of a swap?
You could tell they knew they were better than the Aussies even after Kerr hit that banger. Never seen an England team in any sport apart from maybe the Rugby World Cup winners who have such a champions mentality.gshaw wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 3:02 pmCould definitely learn on the psychology side as the England women's team used to have a similar block to the men's when it came to getting past semi-finals.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 2:36 pm Perhaps Southgate could learn how to win things with a good squad of players like the women’s manager. Reacted well to the equaliser and found the front foot again when Southgate tends to sit back and hope for ET and pens once we concede.
Even though we got past the semi finals in the last euros and got last the quarters in the 2018 World Cup for the first time in 28 years?gshaw wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 3:02 pmCould definitely learn on the psychology side as the England women's team used to have a similar block to the men's when it came to getting past semi-finals.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 2:36 pm Perhaps Southgate could learn how to win things with a good squad of players like the women’s manager. I bet you weren’t saying that after they got hammered 4-0 by Japan.
Like England did when we lost to Italy in the 2020 European final after going 1-0 up in the second minute of the match, the fastest goal ever scored in a European Championship final, and being all over Italy, England then became cautious and defensive and let Italy back in the game and lost out in the penalty shoot out, a case of ''No Guts, no glory'' !gshaw wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 3:02 pmCould definitely learn on the psychology side as the England women's team used to have a similar block to the men's when it came to getting past semi-finals.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 2:36 pm Perhaps Southgate could learn how to win things with a good squad of players like the women’s manager. Sarina Wiegman is a brilliant manager for the England ladies team and has the gift of being a flexible thinker when it comes to tactics and is able to change team formations, player positions and adapt to different game plans, something Southgate and dare I say it RW, dont seem able to do ! Her timing for substitutions are very good. Also a manager who is well liked by her players.
Have you been watching Stan surprised if you have - despite losing to Japan, Spain are the best team that I have seen so far. I would go back to daydreaming about Dane Scarlett if I were you.Stan1972 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 11:28 pmSpain best team in tournament, reallySid Bishop wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 1:10 pmYes its going to be tough but at least we have got there now its all to play for !Top of the JES wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 1:07 pm For me Spain are the best team in the tournament so it’s going to be tough, but well done the Lionesses on a fantastic display today and a really professional job to date.
