The fringe players failed to make a case for being any more than fringe players and poor ones at that. Sergeant did well enough though. The others will hardly give Ross selection headaches. The lack of competition bothers me. Especially as Jobi was doing lots of coaching
No need to get narky Doh the penny obviously hasn't dropped with some. Dartford are anything but a tinpot club, nice ground.

What game were you watching? Wright was easily our best player. Kept possession well and played a couple of very nice through balls.
Worst player on the park? Could you honestly say he was worse than Shabani or Ling? Think some people have already got it in for him because he was poor when he played for us before.

We all know it’s a nothing game but it has value. A chance for fringe players, those we may rely on, during a long hard season to show what they can do like Sargent and of course we had a number of probable starters playing.

If people feel there is nothing to be learned from these games fine. But you need to look a little deeper. Ross gave all three second string strikers a go. They contributed very little. Wright spent most of the game playing sideways and by and large our midfield created nothing. Sure no major issue in a friendly but not positive when considering competition for places. Not much.

What I learned from the game is god help us when we lose our main strikers and little competition for the main spots. Didn’t see many of the fringe players giving Ross difficult choices
We sold our best attackers for peanuts and have not invested even those paltry funds back into the team.
We paid fees for Wilkinson and Angol so that is simply wrong.
Read my comment again - there is no chance we spent the money received from Bonne and Koroma on those two.

Always good to get ratings. Happe and Coulson did what was needed. 6. Widdowson if he could ever learn to shoot would be a 7. Wright I thought was generally non effective and no more than a 5. Had lung not scored then a 4

The local council own the ground and the facilities a bit like Col U, be nice in LBWF built something for us but it will never happen.

Yep, did you expect the owners to reinvest that amount on two new strikers?

No, on a number of players. So far it is clear the money is going elsewhere in the absence of contrary evidence. There is still time of course, but it does not look likely.

I think ultimately most of it will go on players. We may bring in one or two more before the season starts, we need to reinforce midfield and a striker/wide player. May also hold some back for a January or if Embleton proves not to be capable of managing the team. Let's hope that's not the case though.

Give minutes to players who need them come away with another clean sheet and the usual moaners pop up because it's not good enough.
Brill and McAnuff haven't played a minute of pre-season thus far, no suggestion they'll suddenly spring up any time soon ready for the real games to start.

As said numerous times we won't be playing tinpot crap sides this season who were in awe of playing a team as "big" as Orient. If we're short of options to change a game we'll be punished and we look very thin on the ground for quality outside of the starting XI.
Very condescending to call other clubs and teams "tinpot" but you did it all last season as much as you think they are in awe of playing Orient you sound like a premiership fan talking about league one or two side and we all hate those condescending mouthy prem fans, you just come across as being the same when we play a club from a lower division you should show these clubs a bit of respect, it's not like we haven't played Dartford in a friendly in pre season before now is it.

Obviously it's about fitness at the moment not that it's sinking in with some people. We all agree we are a couple of players short still two weeks until our first league game so still time.
NL was absolutely tinpot and I'm glad to see the back of it. The football was crap, refereeing was crap, NL paper was the only thing good about it.

Find it interesting that the last 3 games, we've kept a clean sheet and not scored many. Usually pre-season is full of goals, like 6-5s. Partly because you set out to be attacking and score goals. I wonder if this is a sign of things to come and we know our defence is our strong point. Keep it real tight and hope for a goal, rather than attack from the off. Be interesting to see how we start the season, especially as our first two are winnable games.
Got any evidence for this or have you just made it up to fit some flimsy argument?

Watching the one you obviously weren’t could of shot twice at goal bottled it his distribution was at best shocking lot of his passing fell short of the intended target and almost got Brophy seriously injured with a no hope through ball
This is not about him being here before I’ve watched 3 games now with him playing and I have to say so far I’m not impressed doesn’t like doing the dirty work and when he does he’s clumsy still loves his sideways passing
Whether this signing was a favour to Josh Wright ie with no club seeing as he’s a friend of the Edinburgh’s or whether he’ll come good once the proper stuff starts
I wait with baited breatheπŸ‘

This sounds like a carry over from the second half of last season where our defenders are bailing us out with the goals. I must say, I'm not too optimistic at the moment about the forthcoming season.

I’m pretty pleased our defence is solid. It’s a bonus they contribute goals too. Ekpiteta could have got more today. Widdowson will score at some point too, easy to see why he’s not a striker. In fact our defence had the best of the chances and both the goals. Strikers never got a sniff.

Not a clue. I was trying to work out our formation. 3-5-2 is a good a guess as any. Was standing behind Ross who was relaying instructions about moving players about. Though I moved on after 30 minutes. Seemed he was trying things out on the hoof. Fair enough for a friendly.
